You don't want to be the bride that everyone talks about in a negative way, so you want to make sure you plan out a reception that will keep your guests happy. While you can't please every single person, you can do your best to ensure everyone is comfortable and to make sure they have pleasant memories of your wedding day. Take a look at these common wedding reception complaints that so many guests have. Avoid these complaints and you'll make sure your reception is a wonderful one that everyone will enjoy. Complaint #1 - Bad or Obnoxious Music Probably one of the most common complaints about wedding receptions is that the music was bad or just obnoxious. To avoid this problem, make sure you hire a good DJ. You'll want someone that fits in well with your guests and someone that will play the songs that you want and like at your wedding reception. Complaint #2 - Long Speeches Long speeches are often a complaint of wedding reception guests, especially if they can barely hear them. Make sure you keep the speeches fairly short. About 2-5 minutes each is great. Making sure that you have a good sound system set up at the reception will help you ensure that everyone can hear what is begin said. Complaint #3 - LOUD Music Really loud music is a big complaint as well by wedding guests, and you definitely want to avoid hurting their ears with music that is blaring. Once again, a quality and experienced DJ will help you avoid this. Make sure that tables and chairs aren't right next to speakers as well. Complaint #4 - The Receiving Line Took Forever to Get Through Yet another complaint that often occurs is that the receiving line took forever to get through. No one wants to be standing for a long time waiting to see the bride and groom. To avoid this problem, have only the bride, groom, and parents in the line as greeters. Another option is to visit each table during the reception to avoid the receiving line altogether. Complaint #5 - I Didn't Know Anyone at the Table Many people complain that they had to sit at a table where they didn't know anyone. This can make conversation a bit difficult. To avoid this problem, you need to plan out your seating arrangement for the wedding reception. Try to put people at tables with others that they already know. This way they have some kind of connection to draw on when making conversation. Complaint #6 - Had to Wait Too Long Between the Events Often there is quite a gap between the marriage ceremony and the reception, which is a big complaint with many wedding guests. Guests often aren't quite sure what to do between the two events. Try to keep the events close to each other. Try to make sure the reception hall opens early so guests can go and have a seat. Offer some drinks as well while they are waiting. Complaint #7 - I Never Spoke to the Groom and Bride A common complaint is that guests never get to speak to the groom or the bride. During the reception, try to get by to each table and give people a quick greeting while you are there. This way everyone at least gets to say hello. Make sure you thank them for coming to your wedding.
