I remember the time when I was going to my Calgary Dodge dealers for some tune-up, and I happened to yell and honk loudly at the car in front of me when the driver took almost four seconds to go when the streetlight signal turned green. When I arrived at the the dealership, I was surprised when there was a tap at my back and a the man chuckled while saying, “That was quite a road rage man, keep you cool.” It turned out that the man, whom I yelled and honked viciously at earlier, was a fellow Calgary Dodge customer. Maybe it’s work, family, or other problems - but all the stress in the world has been driving most people to be impatient or to get mad quicker. As what a Calgary Chrysler customer informed me, more people though, are taking all these pent up emotions even on the road. The AAA Foundation for Traffic and Safety recorded about 10,000 cases of aggressive driving between 1990 and 1996, and the figure is bound to rise as we enter a new decade. Here are some simple reminders to remember so that you can avoid venting out your anger on your car. 1. Get in the right mood before driving. If you are furious because you had a quarrel earlier, do not immediately hit the road. Breathe deep first and calm down, or at least ease your anger before manning the steering wheel of your car. When you are not in the mood, you are more likely to become a lot aggressive when driving on the road. Also, get your portion of sleep everyday. Lack of sleep can make some people get cranky. Adjust your own attitude and your mood because it will really affect how you drive. 2. Set the mood while driving. Do not give yourself a reason to be pumped and daring on the road by playing those aggressive music, especially if you have engaged in a row before you got inside a car. Play some smooth music while you are road tripping. Jazz, bossa nova, or classical sounds are one of the most relaxing tunes you can listen too. You can also throw in tracks from The Carpenters, The Beatles, The Weepies, The Smiths, and other old-school tracks that can set you in a better mood. You can also listen to comedy radio stations or a hilarious audiobook while you are driving. These will set you in a bright mood. As what a customer from a Calgary Dodge dealers chain said, a happy driver makes a happy ride. 3. Be patient and slow to anger while you drive. As what that Calgary Dodge customer mentioned, keep your cool while you drive. Being hostile to other drivers on the road is a toxic business. Not to mention it is also unhealthy. People who are quick to anger are more prone to heart attacks than those who act calmly. So keep that happy demeanor while you are driving. These are the three most basic steps to killing the road-raging instincts inside you, as what Calgary Dodge customers affirmed. And these tips are what made me into a better, calmer driver that I am today. Now, every time I go to my Calgary Dodge dealers, I make sure that I don’t throw out a shout or two to my fellow drivers on the road. Instead I start my day with a smile and end my day with a smile. It makes going about your daily routines lighter.
