For safe weight loss and healthy, the profound sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda form a powerful combination. Yoga providing a system of exercises that help burn fat, increase metabolism and promote wellness, while Ayurveda provides guidelines for diet and nutrition. In this article I will explore Ayurveda, which is the science of self-healing and longevity.

A key concept in Ayurveda is that of the three doshas (humours): Vata, Pitta and Kapha. A combination of these three bodily humors are responsible for the composition of our body. This article focuses on the Kapha Dosha which is responsible for fat and is the predominant dosha in those who are overweight and obesity. Therefore, from a Yoga and Ayurveda at the point of view, in order to burn fat and lose weight you must reduce Kapha in the body.

As a quick review of the following three important points about Ayurveda need to be reminded:

1. The qualities of Kapha Dosha are: cold and wet, heavy, dull, soft, sticky and fixed

2. Ayurvedic healing is based on the following two principles

* Decreased opposed to each other

3. There are many treatment methods in Ayurveda and these we are focusing on weight loss diet in this article. In future posts I will detail Ayruvedic other recommendations to reduce weight, burn fat and get fit.

So keep in mind the above are Ayurveda's dietary recommendations of how to combat obesity, reduce fat and promote healthy weight loss.

General composition of the diet to burn fat:

* 30-40% of your diet should be whole grains.

* 20-30% protein (from sources both vegetarian and non vegetarian)

* 40-50% mostly vegetables and some fruits.

Specific dietary recommendations for weight loss:

* As increases as you like, the qualities of Kapha should be a guide to help you choose the right kind of food to eat. So looking at it from that perspective we must reduce fatty foods, dairy products, ice cream, meat (especially red meat), etc.

* For drinks, stick to hot drinks instead of cold. Again using Kapha qualities as a roadmap to help you choose. Tea drinking hot water instead of cold sodas and milkshakes.

* Since the decrease in opposing each other, use more hot spices in food. Ginger, cinnamon, coriander and other hot spices, all working to help reduce Kapha, which is the key to reducing weight. The tastes you should shoot in your diet are pungent, bitter and astringent. Foods with these tastes are anti-Kapha and will help burn fat. Taste generally avoid are sweet, sour and salty.

* Similarly increase salads, vegetables, dry cereals and cooked grains in your diet. Eating foods with Vata and Pitta qualities will increase those doshas in the body and work against increasing Kapha.

Eat a large meal a day and make it lunch or breakfast.

* To avoid snacking, drink a glass of hot lemonade with honey. This will help you burn fat and keep away hunger.

Conclusion:

I hope what you begin to see with Ayurveda is that it gives you the knowledge and framework within which you can customize the treatments you need to use their intelligence. That's why I call the science of Ayurveda self-healing. Once you know the basics, which can easily be applied to deal with any health situation that life throws at you. Specifically for weight loss understand the qualities of Kapha Dosha and tailor your diet and lifestyle to reduce it. By reducing Kapha reduce fat. From a dietary perspective, simply reduce the intake of foods with the same qualities and increase intake of foods with opposite qualities.
