Ayurveda - Healthy living along with nature. We all are well aware of modern science. The symptoms of almost every health problems can be well managed with modern treatment. At the same time, there is a risk of side effects. Now what comes into mind? Is there any treatment that can handle the symptoms effectively by minimizing the risk of side effects to the maximum extent? Yes, there is such a way. And this is the god’s own way. Well, we are talking about Ayurveda. Yes, Ayurveda is the world’s oldest holistic healing system. It was developed thousands of years ago in India, even before modern science provided scientific evidence for mind body connection. It continues to be the world’s most sophisticated and powerful health care system. It is actually a science of life. The word Ayurveda consists of two words Ayu and Veda. Ayu means life while Veda means science. Hence, known as the science of life. It helps our body to stay vibrant and healthy enough. Ayurveda says, everything in this universe is connected to each other. As long as your mind, body and spirit are in harmony with that of universe, you will enjoy good health. What more is important than a good health. According to Ayurveda, each person is made of five basic elements- space, air, fire, water and earth. These elements combine in the body to form three forces or energies of life which are actually called as doshas in Ayurveda. Yes, there are three doshas on which our general health depends. Each dosha serves different functions. These are 1. Vata dosha (space and air) - Vata controls all the movement in the mind and body. It controls blood flow, elimination of wastes, breathing and the movement of thoughts across the mind.It is actually the leader of all the three. Because, the other two doshas can’t even move without it. 2. Pitta dosha (fire and water) - Pitta governs all heat, metabolism and transformation in the mind and body. How we digest foods, how we metabolize our sensory perceptions, and how we discriminate between right and wrong, it all controls by this dosha. 3. Kapha dosha (water and earth) - Kapha governs all structure and lubrication in the mind and body. It controls weight, growth, lubrication for the joints and lungs, and formation of all the seven tissues - nutritive fluids, blood, fat, muscles, bones, marrow and reproductive tissues. Balancing of all the three doshas ismust. It is believed that a health problem results due to any imbalance in any of the three dosha or doshas. HOW AYURVEDA HELPS TO MANAGE ANY HEALTH PROBLEM? Well, to this question also, we have an interesting answer. Ayurveda does not mean suppressing the main symptoms and at the same time, creating some new ones as a result of side effects. It aims at removal of root cause and in return give permanent relief. Ayurvedic Treatment is Based on Following Four
  • Shodan or cleansing
  • Shaman or palliation
  • Rasayana or rejuvenation
  • Satvajaya or mental hygiene
Ayurveda uses herbs in its treatment. As herbs are natural, it is the god’s priceless gift to mankind. And what is more interesting? We are managing our health problem with the nature’s own gift. Treatment mainly consists of powders, tablets, capsules, decoctions and oil that are made using natural herbs, plants and minerals. This is the greatest benefit of this treatment. As it is made using natural sources and hence they are assimilated in thebody without causing any risk of side effects. Instead of giving side effects, it always gives side benefits. Another important thing is that it gives equal importance to healthy diet and healthy lifestyle as well. Have you ever wondered, you are taking medicine to control the symptoms and at the same time you are taking diet or following a lifestyle that is actually responsible for this? Now think, how you can get well, easily. For this reason only, Ayurveda concentrates on diet and lifestyle too. Along with these, panchkarma and yoga therapy can also be done to promote general health and achieve longevity. After all, life is indeed a beautiful gift of god. We should enjoy it to the fullest. If we are healthy enough, we can make the most of our life. For that, we have Ayurveda. So, let us enjoy a healthy life with the nature’s very own way.
