Ayurveda and Healing rnAyurveda gives us the most ancient and comprehensive way to heal. We simply need to look at this science and experience all of the medicinal properties that it can offer us. If you approach Ayurveda with an open mind you will find an enormous potential for health and incredible results in the short term and also in the long term. We are human beings that come from nature and similarly we should look to nature and how we can heal in terms of what occurs naturally in the world. If you simply look at herbs and their medicinal properties you will find a system in Ayurveda that prescribes how to use them and combine them for optimal results. Some herbs have very specific healing qualities while others act as balancing agents when combined with other herbs. Additionally, some herbs also acts as carriers to specific parts of the body. There are also many additional properties that can be found in Herbs and the good news is that there are little to no side effects. So what would be the reasoning behind not trying out this system? The herbs themselves are not expensive especially when compared to pharmaceuticals. Here we are not trying to say that pharmaceuticals haven’t helped us in many ways. Nor are we trying to say that there are not legitimate uses for pharmaceuticals. The only thing we are saying is that there are other ways to heal. That if you discover these alternative means you are possibly finding your cure at a cheaper rate and also in a less damaging way as herbal formulations contain only a small amount of side effects. We still have time to learn about how herbal formulations can enhance our health. What do you have to lose? Ayurveda is an ancient science that is still in full use today because of its effectiveness and because of its complete scope of healing: mind, body and spirit. Again, we are not suggesting that western medicine hasn’t made some amazing discoveries and has helped us to heal in magnificent ways. The only thing we are saying is that to a certain degree western medicine is incomplete. Our western medicine tradition which spans about one hundred years does not account for a persons’ emotional state or by different considerations involving a persons’ ability to heal according to their mental patterns. We do much in our modern lives by the use of our mind which is very hurtful to our health. If we look at how damaging stress can be in a persons life and their health we can begin to see that there are other methods by which to cure these maladies without having to ingest synthetic drugs in our natural system. It is quite clear that we are human beings coming from nature and it would also follow that we should first look at the natural alternatives before relying on the synthetic ones. We should look to nature and what it brings us and also complement this tradition with other wonderful discoveries that have been brought by our sciences. I think History will be the one to judge us on these matters but in the meantime we should look at what is better for us, cheaper for us and what yields us the best possible results to our ailments. A simple meditation practice at the beginning of the day can work wonders against stress and against all of the anxiety that surrounds us on a daily basis. Why not change? What are we so afraid of? Why not try something that can increase your possibility of healing while risking very little. Recommendations in Ayurveda are vast and another one that is simple to practice is taking a couple of minutes out of your day three times a day to do some deep breathing. The power of using our full lung capacity can bring us many benefits. So discover Ayurveda today you and those around you will always thank you for it in the immediate and long term future. 
