Our ears are constantly bombarded by everyday sounds, both pleasant and disturbing. There are some sounds which we just love to hear, such as babysounds like gurgling, and then there are others such as baby sounds like crying which can be quite painful! The sound of a baby laughing is music to the ears of parents but the sound of a baby screaming with pain or discomfort can really upset parents. One of the things which all households with children should have is a baby thermometer so that you can instantly check the temperature of an infant to see if it is normal. There are different types available on the market and you need to find one which suits the age of your child. Types of baby thermometers; Digital Thermometerrn Pacifier Thermometerrn Ear Thermometersrn Temporal Artery Thermometers Digital thermometers These can be used to take rectal and auxiliary temperature readings in infants, and oral temps when your child is old enough to put the thermometer safely in his mouth. When you take your baby's rectal temperature with a digital thermometer you will get an accurate reading, which is why your child's temperature will most likely be taken this way at your doctor's office. Pacifier thermometers These are usually made with the thermometer inside the nipple of the pacifier, with a digital screen on the front to show the temperature reading, but are not the most accurate. Ear Thermometers Also called tympanic or aural thermometers, ear thermometers often use infrared sensors to gauge body temperature, and they usually work quickly. However, ear thermometers have not proven to be accurate, and temperature readings may vary. Temporal Artery Thermometers The latest member of the thermometer family is the temporal artery thermometer. This device gauges body temperature non-invasively with a scan of the forehead. They are so gentle they can be used on a sleeping baby. Another sound which can bring tears of joy to prospective parents is the sound of a heart beat which is heard for the first time, at the doctor's office, of the baby yet to be born. This is done with the use of a baby heart rate monitor by the doctor and is done on a regular basis from the beginning to the end of the pregnancy. This is done to check that all is well with the baby and to make sure that the heart rate is within normal limits. There are heart rate monitors which can be bought for use at home if the doctor feels that more regular monitoring is required and there are also heart rate monitors for adults to use to keep an eye on their heartbeats. You will need to do some research and try to find the best heart rate monitor which is available for your needs. You can either go to the shops and look around for a monitor or you can go online and check for heart rate monitors on the internet and then have it delivered to your doorstep.
