I bet a baby boomer coined the saying “aging gracefully” and is now biting his or her tongue. Fast and processed foods, no time for exercise, overwhelming stress — I’d be hard pressed to find someone growing old without feeling the degenerative effects of aging. But just as 30 is supposedly the new 20, it’s time to make 60 the new 30!
Everyone — especially baby boomers — could use an extra hour in his or her day. No one wants to worry whether they’re eating the right food or absorbing the proper amounts of vitamins and nutrients. The first step to losing that rundown feeling is to get your body in proper balance. When you do that, you’ll be able to stay full of energy and fit for the rest of your life. You’ll actually begin to age gracefully.
As an expert in Age Management I come across clients everyday looking for ways to reverse the degenerative effects of aging. After a complete medical and laboratory evaluation analyzing hormone status, fitness and nutrition, I can create a plan that will get them back on balance.
Everyone has the opportunity to age in peak mental and physical shape and feel great about how they’re aging. Most people just need to tweak their lifestyle a bit to turn the possibility in a reality. Young and old alike, it’s never too late to start. Not at your peak? Here’s some practical advice to get you on your way.
Exercise — You hear it all the time. Exercise, exercise, exercise. And it’s true. To reverse or stymie the effects of aging you have to get the proper amount of physical activity. I recommend 60 minutes a day, five days a week. Start out slow, make it fun and enjoy yourself. Exercising shouldn’t be a chore but it can be hard to get yourself motivated. Just think how great you’re going to feel when you start taking care of your body.
Smoking — We all know not to do it. It’s awful for us physically and mentally. It will increase the rate at which our body ages, causing wrinkles, breathing problems and early death. We know the effects and horror stories. We just have to listen.
Drink Water — 60 to 80 ounces a day is a great way to begin reversing the effects of aging due to dehydration. Drinking plenty of water is great for your skin and overall quality of life. Go drink a glass now.
Sex — Do it and do it a lot. Maintaining an active sex life is great cardiovascular exercise, fun and good for your self-esteem.
Socialize — Hanging out with friends and loved ones is great for the body and the mind. Television or the Internet will never replace stimulating conversation and lots of laughs. The benefits of socializing are amazing. Be the motivating factors in each other’s lives.
You can’t put a price on your health. When you take care of your body you’re investing in your confidence, energy level, sex life, satisfaction and overall quality of life. Get started today! It’s never too late.
