Bachelorette parties are held for ladies who are about to get married and they are the equivalent of a bachelor party that is held for soon-to-be-married men. It is also referred to as a hen's party or hen night. Bachelorette parties have been around for a long time but they took their current form during and after the 1960's sexual revolution. The main participants are female friends and family relations of the future bride although in the recent past gay male friends are also invited to the parties. The parties can be organized around a wide variety of themes depending on what the organizers feel will please the future bride. Some people see them as opportunities for the future bride and her friends to enjoy a night of drinking and entertainment by male strippers. The more common trend however is using the parties as a forum for the future bride to bond with her friends and for her friends to offer her bits of advice on her future role as a wife and daughter-in-law. The parties are normally organized by a friend of the future bride, the bride's mother, the bride's future-mother-in-law or by the bride's maids and are usually held in the evening. In most cultures it is unusual for the bride to hold her own bachelorette party. If you are given the chance to organize a bachelorette party, there are several themes that you can choose from including dinners, cocktail parties or pamper parties. Dinner and cocktail parties provide the future bride and her friends a chance for bonding and providing friendly advice to the bride. Pamper parties on the other hand provide the future bride and her friends a chance to give themselves some special treatment and mostly include spa treatments, camping trips, going to the movies, cooking classes travelling to an exotic destination for some fun time among others. Whatever the theme the organizers select, they should remember that the guest of honor is the bride-to-be and the theme should be one that she is comfortable with even when the participants feel that they would prefer something else. Anything that has the potential to embarrass the future bride should be avoided.rnThere is also a wide variety of themed games and decorations designed for bachelorette parties that you can purchase to liven up the party. During the parties the guests can the bride-to-be gifts although this is not mandatory. It is also a common practice to toast the bride and share funny stories regarding married life. Ordinarily the party should be held at least a week before the wedding since it is important that the bride gets time to rest and get ready before their big day. There are no strict rules regarding who should foot the cost of organizing the party. One of the organizers can offer to cover the costs or as is the more common trend, the costs can be shared by all participants including the bride so it is important to organize something that is affordable to all participants so that everyone is comfortable. The parties are optional and a bride may opt not to have one for whatever reason.
