Living in a world where such a heavy emphasis is placed on pharmaceuticals, sometimes it can be refreshing to look at alternative ways to feel better. One interesting new concept is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) also known as meridian tapping. EFT is a self healing technique that has been effective on many different types of ailments including various types of back pain. The concept of EFT is a blend of Einstein’s work with energy and the ancient tradition of acupuncture and has actually been around for over ten years and has helped patients worldwide. The goal of this technique is to remove disruptions in the body’s energy system by tapping and rubbing specific parts of the body. When the technique is successful it stimulates certain pressure points on your body that control the various pain issues that you are experiencing. The idea was studied by Gary Craig who took a good look on the dynamics of the human energy system. Many find the innovative procedure difficult to explain. Rod Sherwin, Energy Therapist from Melbourne Australia finds it more effective to use an analogy. “An EFT is like talk therapy with an additional physical component which allows us to get to the issues faster and resolve them more thoroughly.” It has also been successful in helping patients with fibromyalgia. By managing these imbalances you are also able to ameliorate some emotional issues that a person is dealing with. In many cases the results of EFT are permanent. Besides relieving pain, EFT has been shown to help in the recovery of emotional issues as well as other physical ailments. Studies have been conducted related to depression, anxiety and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). In each study, the group that took part in EFT improved significantly. The results of the study on PTSD were astonishing. A group of the military veterans were divided into two groups. Group one received six hours of EFT while group two received no treatment and was only placed on the waiting list. Upon the completion of the six week program, 86% of the group one participants no longer showed signs of PTSD. . There has also been a study on EFTs effects on a spinal stenosis, and the treatment also quickly relieved back pain for the patient. rnMost would expect that a procedure like this to be administered in an office by a medical professional but, surprisingly, that is not the case. An EFT practitioner is only necessary for the more advanced procedures. The majority of the treatments are quick and easy to learn and can actually be self-applied. Due to the simplicity of EFT there are no known side effects of the procedure. There is a plethora of information available on the internet. These include video tutorials and books that provide detailed information about proper EFT techniques. If you prefer to deal with a trained professional, EFT practitioners are becoming increasingly popular and offices can be found in most metro areas.
