CARIBBEAN REAL ESTATE is fast becoming more and more popular all the time, this is surely because the Caribbean area is perfect for finding that piece of paradise in which to live in or spend much needed holidays in. Barbados is one of the top holiday and re-location destinations in the Caribbean; it is a beautiful island which has plenty of activities to entertain everyone. There are lots of places of interest to be discovered, for nature enthusiast there is Welchman Hall Gully, which is an area which was once part of a plantation owned by a person called William Asygell Williams over 200 years ago, the area has lots of trees and plants and it is a good walk for those who enjoy hiking, the tranquillity of Welchman Hall Gully will strike you as soon as you get there, when walking around and exploring you will realise that this is what the island may have looked like 200 years ago, in the forest there are lots of tropical plants and trees. The area is connected to a cave called Harrisons Cave and this is how the Gully was formed as the collapse of the roof of the cave formed the Gully. The Gully is 3 quarters of a mile long, the Barbados National took on the Gully in 1962, this was the first property which they owned and they developed it by adding more tropical trees and putting a path through the middle so that it can be easily accessed by visitors. There are 2100 types of native plants within the area of the Antilles, however even though Barbados forms part of this area there are only roughly 700 of them and only 2 of these species belong and originate from Barbados. In The Gully there are Green Monkeys and you can watch these creatures being fed on a platform near the entrance, they can be watched playing in their natural environment and in the summer months it is possible to view about 20 of them each day coming to the Gully to eat their favourite food – Bananas. The green monkeys came to the island in around 1627, when the first settlers on the island brought them over with them, they brought them over as pets original, however they are not really pets as they have the ability to destroy crops, especially fruit crops so are therefore actually considered a problem for farmers and the government offers bounties on them. The monkeys are some of the cutest animals but also most mischievous and there has been some evidence of them being mis-treated by being kept in cages for entertainment purposes and also being put in cages for sale or for tourists to take photos of, this practice doesn’t always seem too bad but however unde eath this the mothers are killed for the young so that they can be caged and when the monkeys grow older and are no longer as useful they are quite often killed before release or if released they are likely to be killed as they are viewed as outcasts by other monkeys. The gully is a special place to visit and will be enjoyed by all. While on the search for CARIBBEAN REAL ESTATE , this is just one of the places what can be enjoyed while taking time out and exploring your potential new home.
