Traditional coaching can now happen online. If you have experience or expertise in consulting or coaching, this could be the business for you. Currently there are many industry experts and professionals offering online coaching services. This doesn’t mean that competition is fierce, however. The number of potential clients for this service is enormous, as everyone needs some form of coaching. Whether you offer spiritual coaching, business coaching, family coaching, and so on, there will be a market for your services. How does it work? You simply design a Web site to effectively promote your coaching services, market it all over the Web, and business should come your way. Your coaching services can be delivered as personal consultation, over the telephone, or via e-mail.

You will have to carefully plan how to charge for your services. There are options. You can charge a monthly retainer for a decided number of hours, or you can charge by the hour. How you communicate with your clients is also an issue to be considered. Make sure your budget includes telecommunications expenses and try to cut back on these as much as possible by using other online communication methods such as e-mail, live voice chat, online meeting facilities, and MSN.

  • Develop a coaching tips and tools archive and feature lead-ins to it in an online newsletter or e-zine.
  • Participate in newsgroups and discussion forums related to coaching and consulting or in your area of expertise.

  • Develop a few podcasts available from your site that profile your expertise.
  • Get testimonials from clients whom you’ve helped already and send articles about the benefits of online coaching to e-zines that focus on such topics.

You could generate additional income for your online coaching business by providing ad space on your site for associated products that your client base might be interested in buying. Another idea is creating and selling e-books that outline your coaching strategies within your field of expertise.
