The term world class might mean different things to different people. Some may say you have to be a big company to be world class, others may say you have to be an International organisation to achieve this status.

I reality anyone can become world class if they follow a set of clearly defined rules, in this article I want to define what is require to become world class and prove to you that anyone providing products and services to their specific audience can become achieve this status.

Values

It all starts with you, the Expert and Authority for what you do. You must define the values that you want your business to abide by. Whether a one person company or multi person organisation you need to ensure that the values that you live by are imbedded within everything that you and your team do.

Well Known

To achieve this status you need to become well-known. The more people that know you the better chance you have of being highly regarded.

It is true that even if you have a small contact base, those that do business with you could rate you as World Class, although your competitors may not consider you at this standard if you are not well known.

Relevant

To achieve this status in your market place what you offer must be relevant, relevant to your market and relevant to the people that you serve.

Everything you deliver must match your customers and client’s needs, people will rate you on your ability to deliver products and services that fit well together and specifically suit their needs.

Differentiated

You need to make sure that what you offer has a uniqueness which drives people to you.

For example if you are offering a service to your customers in a market place where there are a number of people offering the same service, you must ensure you offer something very specific that drives people to you.

Take a moment and consider what you offer, can your target audience find the same service or product somewhere else or have you created that difference that makes the difference?

Maybe you add extra value or build a relationship which gives people that WOW factor, such a good feeling that they not only always come back to you, they share their experience with everyone they come in contact with.

Customer-Centric

How well do you know your customer’s needs and do you ensure that you offer your customers what they want and need?

This is a crucial part of the process, people will rate you as the best if they see that you are focussed on delivering them what they need and want.

Customer-Centric means that you focus on them and deliver exactly what they want rather than what you think they want.

This means doing your research and then having established their needs create products and services that meet their needs.

Trustworthy

Trust is essential if you want to stand out from the rest, trust that demonstrates to your audience that you are the best at what you do.

Trust that you will deliver what you promise.

Trust that you or your products arrive on time, deliver amazing service and quality products that are genuine and reliable.

Innovative

This is the point many fall down on. The very best suppliers are always one step ahead of their customers; they follow the trends and continue to develop products and services that keep them ahead of the rest.

Be innovative in your business and let your customers and clients see you as the brand leader in your Industry.

Rather than watching what your competitors do and then try to keep up, be the brand leader like Apple the computer people, always creating new innovative products and then watching as their customers buy again and their competitors struggle to keep up.

Likeable

Make sure you are liked, if you have staff make sure they are liked too. People are more likely to buy from you or your team if they like you.

More people will come back and buy again if they had a good experience and more of those people will promote you to their friends if they liked the whole buying experience. Take a moment and look around you, are you attracting people to you, because they like you and like your products or are you driving them away because their experience was less likeable.

Remember the whole value process, do your values say customers and clients must be liked or do they say these people are just an income source for your business?

Accessible

How easy is it to contact you or your office? Do you tell people where you are based? Can they pick up the phone and call you? Or are you one of those businesses that just has a contact us box on your website where you expect other people to leave their contact details, but never tell them yours.

Accessibility is crucial to your business achieving world class status, the easier you make it for people to make contact the more confidence they have in you as a credible business.

People like to know where you are based and they like options for how they can make contact with you.

Do you have someone who will answer the phone when your prospective customer calls, or do you let the answerphone take the call leaving the caller unsure if you will ever call back.

Make it easy for people to contact you and more will.

Valuable

The last point is probably the most important point; make sure everything you do is valuable. Add value to your products and services by giving your customers and clients more than they expect.

I am not saying give things away, just the opposite. Always create more value than the customer is expecting and you will find more of them come back again and even more of them will tell their friends, family and colleagues.

The more valuable your products and services are the more respect people will have for them. Of course this means quality too, the greater the quality that you offer your customers the more valuable they will see them and the more they will be prepared to pay.

Build a reputation for value and you will quickly be seen as World Class.

Conclusion

World Class is a number of different things, to achieve this goal you need to achieve them all. Remember start by clearly defining your values and then ensure those values are imbedded in everything that you and your team do. The end result will be amazing; more people will buy from you, because more people will be talking about you and your brand in such a positive way that means more business for you.

The bottom line is this, by aiming to be world class your customers become your sales team promoting you every day at no cost to you.
