Once you start playing the guitar you start to notice it in every piece of music you listen too! And all this does is fuel the passion to continue playing. Talking about guitar really does get excited but nowhere near as much as actually spending 30 minutes strumming out your favourite tunes or even tunes that you have made up. My favourite artist by far on the guitar is Newton Faulkner. If you have not heard of him get into iTunes and download “Rebuilt by Humans” it is an amazing album. Newton doesn’t just use the strings on the guitar to create music, he uses it as a percussive instrument as well! I first saw him on Australian television on a show called “the good news week’. (Check out “Newton Faulkner on Good News Week” on YouTube and be prepared to be blown away!)

I was absolutely gob smacked at this dreadlocked redheaded dude tapping the strings, tapping the pick guard, binding and everywhere else to create this amazingly immersive sound! I could talk about him all day as his talent is truly incredible and nothing like you have seen before! Also his ability in tuning a guitar to different pitches to compliment his playing style is something to be admired. He is someone who has that musical ear that so much of us strive to be able to achieve!

I have been wanting him to play in Brisbane now for quite sometime and have pushed hard on his website to get him here. He is very much apart of the blues and root community that resides in the South East of Australia! I hope to get along to one of his gigs soon and will let you all know how it went! I have all his albums and know all his songs by heart, now it’s just a matter of learning how to play like him and I’ll be set to play for an audience. Please feel free to check out my blog as well at http://www.squidoo.com/beginne#107EB64 I look forward to seeing you over there!

Until next time, keep playing, keep practicing and your skill will come! Make those Guitar Strings Sing!
