Benefits of Intimacy with the Lord

The Lord has created us to have an intimate and personal relationship with Him. Jesus said that He came to that we may have life and have it to the fullest (John 10:10) and intimacy is a deep part of that fullness. What are the benefits of having an intimate relationship with the Lord: 1. Security One of the great things that the Lord gives to us is security in Him. When we have an intimate relationship with Him, we will know Him as our Rock and sure place. When the storms of life come against us, the things that we put our trust in will be shaken and if they are not rock solid, they will crumble away. The Lord wants us to have the assurance, the confidence that He is always with us and that He will never forsake us. Regardless of our situation, the Lord wants us to trust Him that He is our Refuge in which He will protect us and provide for us no matter what. Matthew 7:24-27rn24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” 2. Assurance When knowing God and having an intimate relationship, we have the assurance His constant presence in our live. Sometimes, we put our trust in others and are disappointed when they fail us. However, this will never be the case with the Lord, He will never fail us nor forsake us. He desires to be with us and for us know that He is constant presence in our life. 3. Provision Intimacy with the Lord gives us the confidence to know that the Lord sees our needs and will provide for us accordingly. When we do not know the Lord, we think He is taken by surprise, just like we are, when hardship or need falls upon us. But intimacy with the Lord gives us faith to believe that the Lord will provide for us. 4. Hope The one thing that all of us are looking for is hope. When we do not know the Lord, we put hope in things that are uncertain - other people, things or circumstances. Trust in these things may work for a while, but eventually they will fail. However, when we have an intimate relationship with the Lord, we grow in our understanding and confidence that the Lord provides His hope and a future for us. We are not aimless wandering, with no purpose for our lives, instead the Lord has a wonderful plan for us. The Lord desires that we would know Him and His intimacy. He wants us to know that He has everything that we require to lives a full and abundant life in Him.
