The benefits of a Spiritual life are far too many! rnSpiritual life means a life lived with a purpose to progress on the path that leads to ultimate liberation. Ultimate liberation is when one attains freedom from the cycle of birth and rebirth; and until the liberation happens, while leading a spiritual life, one yields numerous benefits in the worldly life too. It brings about positive attitude, optimistic outlook and high self-esteem, and results in harmonious relationships and a meaningful and purposeful life. An important characteristic of spiritual life is that as one advances on the spiritual path, his every wrong understanding gradually begins to get replaced by right understanding. This is because “Spirituality is not an action, it is a vision. Worldly people’s vision is towards worldly life whereas ‘this’ is a spiritual vision. After the Gnani Purush (the Enlightened One) changes the vision, one begins to see in the direction of spirituality.” - Param Pujya Dadashri. The primary goal of spiritual life is to awaken our Soul. And this goal cannot be realized without Gnani Purush, for only an Enlightened being can enlighten people’s Soul!!! When Gnani Purush enlightens our Soul, we realize really who am I and we gain the right understanding of how things run in life. Once this happens, the worldly life and the spiritual life run simultaneously and smoothly, each one functioning in its own realm. Let us take a look at some of the benefits of Spiritual life:rnWith the grace of Gnani Purush, •once one attains Self-Realization, his spiritual life commences in its true meaning; •one realizes that really ‘I am a Pure Soul’ and not the owner of this body and name; •one understands that ‘I am not the doer’; it is the law of Nature that governs everything that is happening in this world; andrn•with this right conviction, one no longer binds new karmas, be it good or bad karma. rnStaying in the company (satsang) of Gnani Purush, •one rightly understands the real source of pain and misery in his life, and learns how to deal with it without giving rise to further suffering; •one gathers good understanding of the law of karma i.e. what causes charging of karmas, how do karmas get discharged, and how it is our own karmas, and no one outside, that are responsible in bringing suffering in our life; •one attains flawless vision i.e. does not see any living being at fault. Consequently, blaming and accusing others, conflicts, differences of opinions, arguments, gradually reduce and finally finish too; •one develops the ability to adjust everywhere and thereby learns to avoid clashes; •the foundation of a strong intent to not hurt any living being to the slightest extent through one’s thoughts, speech or action, is laid. And whenever one happens to actually hurt someone, one immediately asks for forgiveness for it, which reverses the hurt caused to the other living being; •consequently, the right vision enhances, with the help of which one begins to see with more and more clarity, the mistakes that happen by him in the worldly life; •one slowly becomes free from keeping biases and prejudices and from harnessing thought patterns which cause harm to our self and to others too; •real love begins to flow within him, and as a result the expectations, demands, and the habit of hurting others the moment one’s selfish interest is not served, gradually diminish, giving rise to harmonious relationships; •knowing who the real doer in this world is, one’s worries, tensions and anxiety begin to decrease day-by-day; •one finds freedom from negative thinking, and this helps build self-esteem; •spiritual beings are always on the side of positivity, which instils lasting peace within; •the awareness of the real Self keeps growing; •in one corner of his being, one constantly experiences infinite bliss inside, which is not dependant on any material things or circumstances on the outside. With the increase in awareness of the Self (Soul), the bliss grows in abundance day after day, and one day when it blooms to its full, one attains the Absolute Self i.e. total enlightenment!!
