There are many things when a strategy is planned for increasing the reach to the potential customers informing them about you to an extent that they try your product or service offerings. - Apps are designed according to the mobile platforms like Android, iPhone, Blackberry, etc but no such requirement exists for websites.
- Get the web pages upgraded whenever you want without a chance to lose the user which is not that easy for Applications.
- It is easier to find a webpage as compared to the app in app store, without actually paying money that is needed in many apps.
- It is inconvenient to update an app. A user needs to re-download and re-install the updated app, which is not the case for the sites.
- Some apps can get rejected to be installed due to approval process which is not required for the other.
- They can’t be deleted like apps!
Deciding the “better” one
It is actually all goal focussed. If more content and information is to be shared, make a website and let them talk about it on Internet the way user chooses. Focusing on being a constant companion of the user can highlight the need of apps, whether he is actually thinking about you or not.
As far as the look out of future is there, it is suggested to get both because the world is merging in to one gradually. Keeping it differentiated cannot work in long term, more emphatically, on the marketing front.
In the multi-step processes of building brand, you can consider them two of the many. First would be mobile website and second will be mobile application.
