The best way for teeth whitening is to go for a professional clean up by a good dentist. There are also many home teeth whitening kits available readily in the market such as bleaching strips, bleaching pen, bleaching gel etc. which can be equally effective. The effects of bleaching can last for several months, but may vary depending on the lifestyle of the patient.

Remember that the chemicals professional dentists use are exactly the same as the chemicals used in home teeth whitening kits. All whitening systems use a solution of peroxide and the same result will happen regardless of which method or brand you use.

The Best Teeth Whitening Methods are:

Professional bleaching is usually the best method for teeth whitening. First the dentist will put a rubber shield or a gel on your gums to protect them. Then your dentist will apply the whitening product to your teeth, using a specially made tray which fits into your mouth like a gum-shield.

The ‘active ingredient' in the product is usually hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. As the active ingredient is broken down, oxygen gets into the enamel on the teeth and the tooth color is made lighter. The total treatment can usually be done within three to four weeks.

Laser whitening is also another procedure. During this procedure a rubber dam is put over your teeth to protect the gums, and a bleaching product is painted onto your teeth. Then a light or laser is shone on the teeth to activate the chemical. The light speeds up the reaction of the whitening product and the color change can be achieved more quickly. Laser whitening is said to make teeth up to five or six shades lighter. Your dentist will need to assess your teeth to make sure that you are suitable for the treatment. Once it has been agreed, this procedure usually takes about one hour.

Home Whitening kits are effective, but the desired results take longer to achieve than with in-office bleaching. Depending on the strength of peroxide in the gel, these clear trays are usually worn a couple of hours a day or ove
ight and could take anywhere from 3 days to a couple of weeks before any results are noticed. There are basically two types of teeth whitening trays and gels: Those purchased from your dentist and those purchased from markets. While they will both whiten your teeth, the two have noted differences.

Whitening Toothpastes available in the market do not affect the natural color of your teeth; but they may be effective at removing stains. Some whitening toothpastes may have additional polishing agents and special chemicals that are more effective against stains than regular toothpastes, but teeth whitening toothpastes are not designed to actually "bleach" your teeth. Whitening toothpaste may also help the effect to last, once your teeth have been professionally whitened.

Teeth Whitening Strips are fairly inexpensive, easy to use and most of them really work. Teeth whitening strips may take longer to produce the desired results depending on the strength of peroxide they contain.
