Looking for somewhere to go on holiday, but don't know where? Read our Barcelona guide for an idea. When I first visited Barcelona 6 years ago, I was blown away. I was shocked at the amount of activities and sights to see. No matter what your tastes, Barcelona has something for you. If you are a trainee artist or fan, A visit to the Museu Picasso must be on your list. After spending some time looking at the great founder of the cubist movement, take a break in the Els Quatre Gats in Barri Gotic, a café frequented by Picasso himself. To top off your art day, the Fundacio Joan Miro is another famous artist museum with a fantastic collection of the surrealist's paintings. For those who revel in architecture, a must see is the Sagrada Familia, a fantastic gothic cathedral created by Gaudi. It is featured in most travel guides as a must see and I am know different in believing this. It is considered a crime to visit Barcelona without visiting Las Ramblas, it really is a tourist's paradise. Wandering down Las Ramblas, you will see various sperformance artists the likes of which you have never seen pick up a sandwich and a coffee to enhance the experience. It is so simply Barcelona. But don't think the city's relationship with food only extends to a coffee and bocadillo. Whether you travel to the downmarket Gothic Quarter, or want something a bit more upmarket in Eixample, you will find Barcelona packed full of fantastic Tapas. There is something for every budget, but some research is required to get access to the best tapas you will find. Camp Nou, home to Barcelona football club is just a short tram ride away and is a great sporting experience whether there is a game on or not. Fitting just under one hundred thousand people, the atmosphere is always electric. Almost as enjoyable is the same numbers of fans rushing to get the last metro of the night. London Underground has nothing on this! Football games aside, you will find the metro the perfect way to get around. With the traffic around La Ramblas being a nightmare 24/7, it's a great inexpensive way to get around. With a lot of sights being quite far apart, the metro connects them all together effortlessly. Barcelona is a bustling city and if you want to take a break from it all, there are a couple of places to relax. Not too far away is Barceloneta, where you can either chill out on a sun lounger or venture into the blue waters. You may find that when you return home, you have acquired a very Barca attitude. You get so used to the laid back way of life, beautiful weather and people, and their openness to everything, that it's a place that you miss as soon as you leave. It's because you come back feeling so much like you belong in Barcelona, that you want to return quickly as it feels like home. Barcelona feels like a home from home for many people and it's why they keep flocking back.
