In times when money is tight some families might be looking at downsizing their family car to a smaller compact version. But which car should a price conscious car buyer opt for when there is so much on offer? At various times of year paper and online motoring magazines make it their business to present lists of what they consider to be the best used cars the market can offer – whether this is a city car, a large estate or a small hatch back. In one such survey presented at the tail end of last year, the smaller Ford Focus was highlighted as the best car to get for a family who wanted an affordable and reliable car with great handling skills as well as room enough to fit the entire family and the luggage. The Ford Focus comes in a wide range of engine sizes making it easy for the customer to find used car dealers with vehicles on their forecourt suitable for any family’s wallet and needs. Families who do decide to downsize will probably find economic benefits in more than just the price of the actual car. A smaller sized engine will result in less fuel consumption and as a result smaller fuel bills and the car is also more likely to be cheaper to insure and tax than larger vehicles. So although opting for a smaller sized car might make the journey more intimate, the overall savings of owning a smaller and more economical car might still put a smile on everybody’s faces.
