Exchange Server is a medium to collaborate the information or data between a Server and client side machine. Exchange Server is an internal/personal Server for the organization which is to be used to centralized or share data of the organization. Exchange Server saves user mailbox data in the (EDB) embedded database file format.

Versions of Exchange Server

Exchange Server has many of the versions named as:

Exchange 1.0, 4.0, 5.0, 5.5,

Exchange Server 2000,2003,2007,2010

These EDB file are of two types: Priv.EDB and Pub.EDB.

The file Priv.EDB stands for private EDB mailbox. This Priv.EDB file is used to store user mailbox data and the file Pub.EDB is used to centralize the user mailbox data. sometimes this EDB file of Exchange Server get corrupted due to (heavy virus attacks on database, power failure during work with Exchange mailbox EDB file, changing of organization unit of a user mailbox, creation of logical errors because of continuous applying of wrong user id passwords and continue skipping of pop errors or commands during work with Exchange Server, improper shutdown of Exchange Server by manual or technical mistakes.
