According to doctors, as we age our immune system gets less efficient which leads to the progression of diseases. So, it is important to overcome the stress in order to keep yourself healthy mentally as well as physically.

Here are some best ways to manage stress.
- COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT):
It is the therapy that is done by a CBT therapist who replaces your negative thoughts with the positive ones. Unhealthy thinking can change your emotions. Through this way stress level is decreased and negative thoughts are automatically replaced with healthy and positive thoughts.
- RELAXATION TECHNIQUES:
These activities increase the relaxation response, a physiological change that can lower blood pressure, breathing rate, heart rate, and stress hormones. It includes some breathing techniques which increase oxygen consumption that reduce stress level. You can also achieve this with activities such as meditation, guided imagery, and yoga.
- GOAL SETTING:
Try to set goals for yourself, when you set goals for yourself, you will have a positive sense of commitment, you will feel you are in control and are optimistic. So it is necessary to set goals in your career, relationships, creativity, play, and health.

- EXERCISE REGULARLY:
When you do exercise on daily basis, it can also lower your stress level and makes you active physically and mentally. It also relaxes your body and mind. Improves your mood.
Work up to 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderately intense exercise like brisk walks or 5 minutes of a more vigorous exercise like swimming laps, jogging or other sports.
Remember that doing any exercise is better than none at all.
- EAT WELL:
Eating regulary 3 times meal, well balanced diet will help you feel better. It helps to control your mood. You meals should be full of vegetables, meats, fat, carbohydrate, protein, whole grains, fruit for energy.
- SLOW DOWN:
Our lives are so busy and sometimes we just need to slow down and chill out. Set your watch 5 to 10 minutes ahead. that way you will get places a little early and avoid the stress of being late. Break down big jobs into smaller ones. For example, don't try to answer all 100 emails if you do not have to, just answer a few of them.
- TAKE A BREAK:
Always take a break from your daily routine so that stress level can be released. You can offer prayer, spend some time in nature and can also do yoga.
- MAKE TIME FOR HOBBIES:
You should try to do something every day that makes you feel good and it will help relieve your stress, 15-20 minutes will be enough for these relaxing hobbies. These include reading, knitting, doing an art project, playing golf, watching a movie, doing puzzles and playing cards.
- ELIMINATE YOUR TRIGGERS:
You should figure out the causes of your stress. Is it your job? your commute? your work place? Eliminate them or at least reduce them.
- GO EASY ON YOURSELF:
You should accept that you can't do things perfectly no matter how hard you try. You also can not control everything in your life. So do yourself a favor and stop thinking that you can do so much. And do not forget to keep up your sense of humor. Laughter goes a long way towards making you feel relaxed.
