Big Little Marketing Lies

If you want to grow your business and reach your ideal clients and customers you’re going to have to let go of a lot of assumptions about what it takes to fill your pipeline.

Let’s start off with a few common myths that may be stunting your growth …

1) I can’t make money until my website is finished.

How did people grow their business before the internet? They talked about it!

Does having a website allow you to reach more people? Yes, but it’s only one way to get the message out. You can be chatting it up with potential clients every day of the week if you decided making money was a life or death situation.

2) It’s going to take a lot of money to market my product or service and I don’t have the money to do it.

Really? Then how did I fill my teleseminars before I knew anything about marketing, before there was no such thing as social media and all I had was an itty bitty email list filled with just friends, family and past clients?

Pure passion. I wanted to let the world know how to reach their goals easier, so I told them about my course. I talked about the end outcomes they’d receive and how fun I was going to make the journey. I have zero sales experience, talk like a valley girl and don’t use a script.

I talk from the heart. And people feel what I am saying.

3) I don’t know how to talk about what I do.

Yes, you do. You know what you want people to experience as a result of consuming your service or product. You know what you want them to feel. You know what each product or service is designed to do. Don’t try to say the “right” thing; say what you know to be true.

Be the expert in your niche by trusting what you know and saying so.

Marketing has become about perfecting a technique in many business owners’ eyes. While choosing the ideal strategy for your business is important, marketing is really about sharing with no shame.

Marketing is not about hard-core selling strategies.

My marketing plan is about the value I want to give people in my tribe. I don’t see them as a dollar sign. They are humans with whom I want to have a heart-to-heart connection.

I want to give them value whether or not they buy.

The only truth about marketing is that it’s fun and effective when you do it in a way that lines up with your values and brand. And it’s inspired.

Marketing can be anything you want it to be. I think it’s fun, creative and causes me to expand as a leader.

There are so many assumptions about marketing that simply aren’t true. Make sure you’re not letting big little lies about marketing stunt your growth.

If you want to stop being the best-kept secret, find a way of marketing that lights you up. Tweak strategies to fit your needs and desires. If it’s not fun, it’s not the right strategy for you or it’s time to delegate.
