Neptune is the second of the outer planets. It raises us to different states of consciousness. You will need to open up your mind and senses if you want to understand the energy of Neptune.Despite being such a nebulous planet its subtle force is gentle and is also powerful in its own way. This higher state is one of understanding, empathy, compassion, forgiveness and most of all one of unconditional love. We associate Neptune with illusion, Idealism, aspiration, mystery, spirituality and a sense of oneness. This planet can transport you to a different dimensions, albeit only temporary, it take you out of your ego shell and this,if you can grasp it,is Neptune. It is beyond our control and the limits of the linear and analytical mind. It belongs in the realms of our Soul and Spirit.
We all have Neptune in our Birth Charts
Remember Neptune is an outer planet and as such belongs to our ‘Higher Self, this being our Soul/Spirit. It works though our ideals, dreams and aspirations, orcan also act as an escape from the harshness of physical life through alcohol or drugs. The fact to remember is Neptune will in some way or form take you out of yourself.
The Idealistic Dreamer
Neptune is very much the idealisic dreamer within us. The ‘dream’ is not only ones knight in shining armour ready to rescue, it could be an ambition, money, a dream home or an ideal way to living. ‘If I had this, then my life would be perfect’. Some wait and hope that life will bring them their dream or ideal. Although Neptune can weave its magic spell it can also leave you in a wishful dream state where you do little to make it happen. Some work tirelessly to manifest their ideals and others fight for them, while others turn to drink or drugs from adversity. Neptune can be used as a crutch for a period of time. A strong Neptune character can deal with such situations. They can be sensitive to its subtle energies and become an escapist, evasive, compassionate, or an idealistic dreamer and probably a mixture of all. The point is Neptune can take you to an additive state. The true strength of Neptune will force us to look within, thereby tapping into its higher realms. Whatever is appropriate of each of us,whether it be spiritual, religious or indeed nature we are reaching out of deeper understanding and healing.
Other everyday examples, if you have ever looked at scenery and it took your breath away,or listened to a piece of music that has literally taken you to another dimension, then you have touched Neptune’s realm. A good actor must have a strong Neptune,as they can step into the character they are portraying. A counsellor should be able to do the same thing,by the ability to empathise.
Neptune is the planet most associated with the Master Jesus, who‘s message tells us to love our neighbour, turn the other cheek and when being crucified cried out with ‘forgive them for they know not what they do’. Imagine such compassion, such strength when you are in tremendous pain. This does not comes from faith but a deep and inner realisation that we are all one and part of a greater being. Neptune with its subtle energy works at dissolving our separate ego,the one that we have worked so hard to build up and maintain, it tries to lead us into a greater and more loving and accepting reality. This is the highest vibration of Neptune and one where our Soul and Spirit are leading us.
Unconditional Love
Neptune is an inclusive energy that binds everything together with Love. We experience a fraction of this when we love and make sacrifices for our children and family. This is part of the Moon’s domain. Neptune on the other hand says the world is my family and loves all like its own, this, like turning the other cheek,is so hard to do. But it is the essence of Neptune!
Neptune in the Birth Chart
On building our separate ego’s we encounter many wounds, hurts and vulnerabilities on the way. In the house where Neptune is placed you may find your ‘Achilles heel’ where it would need the higher understanding of Neptune to heal any deep wounds or your vulnerable spot. This house position could also show where you are the least practical or the most idealistic and maybe both! It could be an area of confusion, illusion and fantasy and where you need to be the most grounded. The ironic thing is that you do need to be ‘Earthed’ in your own sense of self, which needs to include your spirit and not just ego consciousness.
We all need to ground the higher attitudes and ideals of Neptune. An understanding of your own personal Neptune, like all the planets,is so useful and valuable to your life.
Neptune will sensitise the area of life shown by the house it occupies and any planet it touches by aspect. Neptune works to dissolve our limited thought processes, perceptions and sense of separateness, which often causes chaos. From this however,it can also shows you glimpses of a higher reality,or a more refined attitude of where it is in your Birth Chart. The more inclusive and holistic you become, the more you can drop your sense of separateness, then the more Neptune can work through you in more positive ways. Remember it is an outer planet so will not work successfully with an attitude of ‘me and mine’. You can however, use it to understand and heal your own wounds as well as those of others. When you can transmute sympathy into empathy, turn the other cheek and can love unconditionally you are then operating on Neptune’s realm and here you will know peace and feel at one with Source. A tall order for most of us!
