We often hear that inhalation or contact with black mold can cause nasty black mold symptoms like runny nose, itchy eyes, and breathing trouble with associated signs of asthma. There is even mention of more serious symptoms. What Is Black Mold Anyway? Black molds are very common in buildings and homes and grow where there is excessive humidity and moisture. In fact, they grow both indoors and outdoors. They can enter your house from various routes like open doorways, windows and via air conditioning and heating ducts. You can even spot them on the inside surfaces of walls where there is excessive water seepage on account of rains. Some of the most common indoor species of molds are Penicillium, Aspergillus, Cladosporium and Alternaria. Some building materials act as catalysts for the growth of black molds. These include paper and paper products, wood and wood products, cardboard, ceiling tiles, and wet cellulose materials. Other household stuff that allows fast growth of molds includes insulation material, carpets, upholstery and some fabrics. Black mold symptoms arise because molds tend to attach themselves to human beings and animals and often shoes, clothing, bags and domestic pets are carriers of the allergen. Obviously a question arises whether people should vacate a home or a building that has mold growth. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this question. Certain molds are toxigenic and toxigenic molds do cause health problems. Each resident must make a decision whether to vacate or not only after thoroughly assessing if the mold is a toxic type. Most black mold symptoms are common place and respond well to customary medical treatment. Some of the black mold symptoms mentioned in various forums and media such as pulmonary hemorrhage and memory loss are very rare, and even if such events have been reported, they are not supported by medical and scientific findings. Most common health concerns involve black mold symptoms like allergy that mimic hay fever. Some individuals with chronic respiratory diseases and residing in homes having molds may experience severe breathing difficulty. In such situations, a qualified clinician or a health care provider must be consulted. Black Mold Removal One good way of preventing black mold symptoms is by getting rid of molds in your home. If the extent of molds in your home is less than 30 square feet then a basic cleanup and restoration will suffice. However, assessing the extent of molds in your home is not an easy task. Identifying visible molds may not be enough. You need to inspect the entire surface of your home for any hidden molds at various locations including ceiling, walls and floors. You may need to employ a professional mold cleaning service. Professional mold cleaners make a thorough examination that includes investigation of air passages and they also determine what aids the growth of molds. One significant advantage of getting professional black mold cleaners is that you get a meticulous clean-up job done. They will reach every crawl up space in your home and also access hard-to-reach ductwork in your attic and high roofing. Professional removal of molds is expensive and you need to get it done by a certified mold inspector. Once your home is free of mold you can rest assured that your loved ones will be free of black mold symptoms too.
