I recently attended the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show in Atlanta, Ga., and I noticed some aspects of the show that were hits and some that missed the mark for ease of attendance and marketing. Provide Images for the Media As soon as I decided to write about the hair show for my blog, I went straight to the media room to see what media was available to me. I saw a logo or two, but no images from previous shows. I wish that there were some images available from previous shows for download. The pictures would not only give members of the media an idea of what they can expect at the beauty trade show, but the images can also serve as back-ups in case their own images are not as stellar as they hope Provide Information for Tickets and Parking Tickets were available online, right on the Bronner Brothers website. They were available for licensed professionals and there was a separate option for unlicensed professions. It was easy for me to buy tickets for the shows that I wanted to see, and my purchased ticket was e-mailed to me. It was later scanned right from my smartphone at the show's massive ticket counters. Parking is a huge hassle in Atlanta, especially during the numerous special events occurring in the city. I'm happy to say that Bronner Brothers had excellent parking information on its website. I'm writing this because the show's planners included the closest parking lots to the actual building where the show took place. There are a lot of lots around the Georgia World Congress Center, so the little line of information which listed the closest lots was wonderful. Offer Independent Bloggers Access to Press Passes I wish that more event planners would recognize the importance of being welcoming to bloggers vloggers. Bloggers and vloggers are highly influential today, so it's surprising to me that many events do not give bloggers the same access as other publishers. Sure, anyone can create a blog, but there are some blogs out there that could provide excellent coverage of events. Blogs have targeted audiences of loyal follower and blogs can publish quickly. Blog owners control their content, so they can publish updates on-site immediately. Bloggers have been extremely successful in getting the masses excited about events, music, businesses… You name it! Instead of refusing to provide press credentials to blog owners and vloggers who are not connected with a print publications, why not set up guidelines which would grant some bloggers special access to the event for interviews and photography. Access to events could be based on the quality of the bloggers' publication, the readership profile, the number of followers, etc. Use Creative, Visually Appealing Marketing Tactics At the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show, stylists performed synchronized dances, models paraded through the convention area wearing colorful, stunning costumes and hairstyles. I was able to get some great images when I was in the right place at the right time. The stylists knew how to get eyeballs and attention on their businesses, and they made the convention exciting. They had great signage, wore t-shirts to advertise their brands, demonstrated their skills, and had brochures ready. I captured images and videos of the creativity at the show for my blog and my YouTube channel and that made me very happy.
