Bloggers Block? Editing, Extending And Renewing Posts.

Don't give up that blog edit it into an article site. For the article writer who has chosen the blog platform for writing about a passionate topic some adjustments to standard posting procedures could be very useful. This is particularly so for the blogger who prefers to write more comprehensive articles less frequently, and also for the non-professional who has something to say but is conce ed about writers block. There is a big difference in blogs that present articles rather than news stories. News items just keep on coming and are interesting to readers primarily when they are current, they then lose interest daily. This suits the normal blogging regimen very well. A blog that publishes articles is a place for readers to learn something of interest and maybe gather up more information on the topic later. When posting articles the standard way there is a strict disadvantage to the writer. As substantial new ideas or information surface that will improve on a composition, the related post is way back there out of sight. The article blogger prefers to write detailed and informative articles less frequently. But most general blogging topics have just so many sub-topics, and gradually the posts will get watered down with repeated or similar words and paragraphs, or they will STOP. The ability to produce continued quality output and avoid writers block is a common road hazard. Reposting is a blogging win-win routine. With a workable strategy publishing much improved fresh updates can be very beneficial to the writer - and the new or returning reader. Say an original quality article was posted quite some time ago, no longer getting the attention it deserves. Meanwhile new topical content has been collected which would make the article very much better. A substantial rewrite is in order, but not back there where it will get little or no attention. Some bloggers post a statement of the update pointing to the rewrite which lies in storage. Others post a Most Popular Articles list occasionally; still they are in the background. A solid re-posting procedure can produce an all-round better functioning, continuing blog. Let's say you have posted 150 times and new ideas are drying up. You have put a lot of work into your quality project so far and do not want to waste your efforts, you want to make it even better and perhaps have an ebook or manuscript in mind. With much of the solid work already done it could be easy. A collection of 75 in depth articles should be much preferred to a blog consisting of 300 ok posts, depending on the topic and author's goal. A typical re-post might go from 450-600 words to 1200 or 1500 in a first or perhaps a second rewrite. Re-posting advantages. Takes pressure off producing a stream of original articles. Posts improve with fresh and pertinent new quality content. There is a general improvement in wording, style, and images. Important articles do not fade away but resurface anew. The entire blog keeps improving without any fluff articles. The continuing process begins to resemble book chapters. Writer satisfaction increases with writers block corralled. New and returning readers have cause to come back again. Suggested steps using Google Blogger Create a new working text file containing the original post. Keep the title intact except perhaps altering or adding a key word. Also keep the first paragraph or two more or less as-is but with some editing and improved words for returning search engines. Then follow with the big improvements in content, style and resources to the rest of the article. On my weekly blog and 1/2 way through year 3, I now re-post monthly. In preparatio I gather new ideas and material in a new text file until a collection will be a solid improvement to the blog article. When suitable I then edit this into the original post in Blogger, change the date to today in Post Options, and then Publish. The post then rises to the top of the blog and shows the fresh date above the title, while the original date remains in the url. If the title is in the sidebar it can be raised to the top manually. The result is a website of articles using blog software.
