In South Florida, as elsewhere across the nation, to drive a BMW is to drive a fine quality automobile. Not content to rest on its past laurels, BMW continues to raise the bar in auto excellence and the new BMW 328i is no exception. The Los Angeles Times reports that the BMW 3 Series has been the most recognizable of BMW products for the past 30 years and that there is no small amount of pressure on BMW each time a new model is rolled out to continue to meet the standard of excellence, safety, power, and luxury with which BMW has come to be associated. The most recent change for the BWM 3 Series is the smaller engine of the 328i. Going along with the current industry trend for smaller and more efficient engines, the BMW 328i has moved to a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine from its previous six cylinder. However, the drop in cylinders has not caused a drop in power. The new BMW 328i has a horsepower gain of 10 and 60 pound-feet of torque over the previous engine. According to BMW, the 328i can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds. The new engine has also improved fuel economy. That is good news as gas prices in South Florida continue to rise. The new 328i gets approximately 24 miles to the gallon in the city and 36 while on the highway. The new BMW also has Driving Dynamic Control as a standard feature. This feature enables the driver to choose from among Comfort, Sport, and Eco Pro modes. The Sports Mode heightens steering, performance, and handling, while the Eco Pro Mode renders the vehicle more efficient. Those who want their BMW to handle like a sports car will probably want to leave the vehicle in the Sport Mode, while South Florida BMW drivers who are concerned about the environment may opt to keep Eco Pro Mode on all of the time. For those who fall somewhere in the middle of these two options, the Comfort Mode is the default mode for the BMW 328i The new BMW also has a few design changes. With looks being somewhat subjective, some have lauded the changes while others have complained that they liked the old style better. Regardless of personal tastes, however, the new BMW 328i has a quintessential BMW-look that is easily recognizable and will not disappoint consumers. If you are interested in a BMW 328i or any other BMW model, call or visit your South Florida BMW dealer or car dealer that has BMWs, and check out the excellence that is BMW.
