If you ask a boxer, he will tell you about the importance of protecting hands and whether you aim to be Mike Tyson or Herol "the bomber graham," you need to protect your hands with boxing gloves and hand wraps. Most of the boxers have been sent out of the field due to hand injuries and some of them who got sustained with hand injuries have not yet recovered.

The first and the foremost thing needed in boxing is proper protection for hands and be aware of it. If you are a boxer, you would have known the aim of boxing which is to punch your opponent with knuckles in a repeated way. Once if you are protected with proper gloves, then you are sure that you can face your opponent in a strong way.

The gloves are worn by the boxer to soften the process of bone hitting bone with immense and repeated force and it has been made from molded PVC or foam covered in leather. This protection is strong enough to prevent any damage and breakage of bone structure. Before you wear the gloves, you should wear hand wraps so that you get extra padding for your knuckles and other soft parts of bone.

Sometimes even if you wear proper boxing gloves there is a chance of damaging your bones due to improper wrapping. The best example for this is Joe Calzaghe; the IBF super middle weight boxer who has sustained injuries due to improper wrapping.

A boxer without hand wraps is like a mattress without springs and they are mandatory in boxing competition and they are really meant for structural support and once you tightly warp around your knuckles, hands and wrists, you are ensured that even small bones are protected from impact and torsion. Let us see some of the best features of boxing gloves.

It has a thumb-lock feature that prevents accidental gouging of an opponent's eye and it exists in varying sizes with wrist closures that include laced, lace less with elastic and hook and loop closures. Lace Protectors, Bag Gloves, Training Gloves, Pro Fight Gloves, Amateur Competition Gloves, Aerobic Gloves and MMA Gloves are the different types of gloves available for boxing.

Choose the right kind of gloves you need and if you are just going to punch a punch bag, then buy the one that are cheap and if you have decided to get into a ring, then go for quality ones. Once you wear your gloves, you should feel comfortable and it should not hold your fingers very tight and give you the discomfort to your hands and once it is laced, it should not slip out of your hand.

Boxing requires a lot of training and dedication and during warm up, you require moving around the ring and touching gloves with your opponent. So you should have enough practice with your gloves and if your gloves suit you, then you can confidently fight and win your opponent.
