Grabbing some cereal in the morning or a hurried toast and glass of milk is a common morning meal for most people. Most people's morning are really hectic and eating a good hearty breakfast is not really a priority on the list. In fact, , most people forget that they need to eat anything and just gulp coffee. Hunger pangs are forgotten and stomach rumblings do not even reach your own ears. Then by lunchtime, you are super hungry and binge on greasy food. Then, there is a huge gap between lunch and dinner and usually dinner is heavy. Is this healthy? rnBreakfast itself means you break-the-fast since dinner time. Let us say you sleep for 7-8 hours that means you went without food for that much time. Just like a car, your body runs on the fuel. The body needs food to function smoothly and in a healthy way. Your body needs this morning meal for both physiological and psychological reasons. Coffee is NOT counted as breakfast. To have a good jump start to your day, a healthy and hearty breakfast is necessary. All of us have heard the saying; “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dinner like a pauper”. Whatever we eat during breakfast will be converted into energy which is needed to function through the day properly or else you will continuously feel tired and irritated. Studies and research has consistently shown that kids and adults who had a habit of eating regular breakfast are less prone to obesity, heart trouble, cholesterol issues etc. They are more healthy, energetic, happy and strong. Eating breakfast refuels your glucose and protein stores and jumpstarts your metabolism. This will give the person better strength and endurance capacity to face the day cheerfully. rnPeople who think toast, butter, coffee and some cereals is the perfect breakfast are wrong. Well, some food is good than nothing at all. But a perfect breakfast should incorporate all food groups – carbs, proteins, vitamins and some fat also. Fat is an excellent lubricant for our body and essential for bone movement. If you are an average person than 300 calories worth breakfast is necessary. If you are into sports or trying to build muscle mass, protein content should increase and overall calorie intake during breakfast must double. Consulting your family doctor and reading more about an ideal breakfast will be perfect!rnWell, if you absolutely cannot eat a hearty breakfast at once, divide it into smaller portions and eat twice within an hour an a half of getting up. Try it for a week and see the results for yourself.
