You've been through a break-up and now you're depressed. It's sad to go through the day on the verge of tears. Break-up depression is a fact of life.

They are among some of the most important aspects of our lives, losing a relationship to a break-up is especially punishing. Because of the time and energy we invest in them, relationships become a very important part of our lives. Our world gets turned upside down when we find the other person wants out of the relationship. Stop the pain, get on with your life by following the guidelines below.

GET OVER BREAK-UP DEPRESSION BY LETTING YOURSELF FEEL SAD.

It may not sound healthy, but the first thing you need is to just let the sad emotions flow over you. It's actually unhealthy to try to stifle the feelings of sadness or anger. Sure, you want to have a little control, such as not bawling at work, but don't deny your feelings. When you are in a private place, turn on the water works, a good crying jag is good for the soul.

STOP BREAK-UP DEPRESSIONS BY LOOKING ON THE BRIGHT SIDE.

Loss is so deep a feeling when a love
leaves, you feel like the plug as been pulled on your life. You know better, but the feelings of sadness and anger seem to be all that's left of your life. Your relationship may be gone, but you still have plenty of other good things, remind yourself of them. Think of just 5 things you can be thankful for, even if you have to search diligently.

You may feel like this is a useless exercise, but it will make you feel better. No matter how small they may be, if they're positive, they'll make you feel more positive. You can be blessed with many things, sometimes the smaller the better – like a friend who is a good listener, or seeing a baby laugh.

BEAT BREAK-UP DEPRESSION BY TAKING SMALL STEPS.

Getting dumped is a terrible situation, a terrible feeling. When faced with loss, it is not unusual to withdraw and keep to ourselves. Don't fall into that trap, you'll make the problem worse and get even more depressed.

Make your world larger, don't make it smaller. Test yourself, show yourself that you still have moxie, vow to do something new and challenging everyday. There's a big world out there, but you don't have to take it all on, just some of it. Take a stab at something that might make you feel uneasy at first. You could perhaps join a gym and take yoga classes. Learn to throw pottery.

Endeavors such as these will help you feel more self-confident, a little more adventurous – both attractive characteristics to others when you start dating again.

The reality is that break-ups are not any fun, but that doesn't mean you can't have any more fun for the rest of your life. Take things slowly, the pain will soon be replaced with challenges you bring to yourself, challenges that will build your self-esteem and self-confidence.
