Small or unshapely breasts can be quite distressing to women who otherwise have good physical features. Weight loss, aging and multiple pregnancies can reduce the volume and firmness of the breasts. Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic breast surgery procedures chosen by women looking to achieve a shapelier, more feminine bust line. Implants for Fuller, Shapelier BreastsBreast augmentation surgery can be performed using a variety of techniques. When it comes to breast implants, there are two options: • Saline implants: The saline implant constitutes a silicone pouch filled with a saline solution. The solution is filled in after the implant is surgically placed using a small incision. • Silicone gel implants: The silicone gel implant comes pre-filled and therefore requires a larger incision for insertion. Silicone implants have been reintroduced by FDA as they have been proven safe following extensive research. A silicone gel implant has a more natural look and feel than the saline implant. Yearly MRI scans can help detect ruptures in the silicone implant. The Breast Implant Surgery The breast implant procedure is carried out employing advanced surgical techniques to achieve the desired aesthetic results and bring about a natural look by effectively concealing signs of surgical intervention. Some of the breast implantation techniques are: • Inframammary (under breast incision) • Transaxillary (armpit incision) • Periareolar (incision around areola) Inframammary is the conventional technique wherein the incision is made beneath the breast. Plastic surgeons can place the desired implant and position it properly under the muscle or under the breast parenchyma. The incision remains well concealed by almost all kinds of clothing. rnIn the Transaxillary technique, the incision is made in the armpit. The breast implant is then introduced through this access point and placed under the muscles. One of the main advantages of this technique is that the breasts continue to look natural and patients don’t have to worry about scarring near the sensitive region. In the Periareolar technique, where the incision is made around the bottom edge of the areola, the surgical scar remains hidden as it blends in the junction of the darker areola skin and the lighter breast skin. Though saline implants can be easily introduced, silicone implants require the areola to be of adequate size. Choosing the Right Implant Breast implants are available in various shapes to accommodate different body types. Choosing the right implant that can give you a shapelier and more feminine bust line is important. Consulting an experienced surgeon would help you achieve the results you are looking for.
