So you have finally decided to get rid of the drooping and sagging of your breasts with a breast lift surgery. But how much do you really know about this type of surgery? Do you know the pre-requisites you are supposed to follow before getting the procedure? When does getting a breast lift become imperative? Do you know under which sagging grade your breasts fall? Before getting this corrective procedure done, you should be fully aware of every aspect surrounding and comprising breast lift surgery. What is a breast lift surgery? Breast lift surgery, or a mastopexy as it is medically called, is the process of reducing the sagginess in the breast and lifting the breasts to make them appear more perky and youthful. What does a breast lift procedure entail? Depending upon the patient’s choice, they are either given intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Depending upon the grade of ptosis, i.e., the sagging, an incision is made around the areola. The tissues are then lifted and reshaped, nipples and areola are positioned to give them adequate positioning and excess skin is removed to compensate for the loss of elasticity. The remaining skin is tightened by closing the incision. What is sagging and how to determine know which corrective breast lift procedure do you qualify for? Medically, sagging is termed as ptosis. Many factors can lead to the sagging of a woman's breasts. With time and age, the breast tends to lose their firmness and start drooping. Another significant factor is pregnancy, breastfeeding and considerable weight loss. Poor life choices also contribute to early breast sagging. But did you know that there are three grades of breasts sagging? Depending upon the position of the nipple to the crease where the lower side of the breasts touches the chest wall, i.e., the inframammary crease, the following are the grades of sagging: GRADE 1: When the nipple is at the same level as the inframammary crease, it results in mild sagging. Grade 1 ptosis can be corrected by performing crescent mastopexy wherein a breast surgeon makes an incision around the top half edge of the areola, the excess skin and tissue are removed, and breast is lifted by suturing it properly. Another standard procedure to lift mild sagging breast is by periareolar mastopexy wherein herein with the help of a single incision around the areola, the breast surgeon removes the excess skin and repositions the nipple. GRADE 2: When the nipple is positioned below the inframammary crease, and the lower breast tissue hangs below the nipple level, it results in moderate sagging. Grade 2 ptosis can be corrected by performing a vertical mastopexy wherein two incisions are made around the areola: one vertical to the areola and other around the edge of the areola, and then the excess skin I removed and the breast is lifted and reshaped. GRADE 3: When the nipple is located below the inframammary crease at the level of maximum breast projection, there is advanced breast sagging. GRADE 4: When the position of the nipple is well below the inframammary crease and is leading to maximum breast projection, it results in severe breast sagging. The anchor mastopexy can correct advanced and severe sagging wherein the surgeon makes three incisions: one around the edges of the areola, another vertical incision from the bottom of the areola and last along the inframammary crease to remove the excess skin and give optimal breast lift. How can you prepare for breast lift surgery? Drink lots of water band eat healthy to recover quickly from the operation.rnStop the consumption of alcohol or any tobacco products at least three weeks before the surgery. rnDevelop an exercise routine to strengthening the core muscles for quick recovery post-surgery rnAforementioned are some basics you need to keep in mind before undergoing a breast lift procedure. Getting breast lift by an expert surgeon is also a crucial factor in getting the optimum results with no visible scar and quick recovery. Dr. Gary Horndeski's Bellesoma method, a significant breakthrough in the field of breast surgery has made a breast lift without ugly visible scars, higher projection, and long lasting results a possibility.
