You can sit, lay flat or stand during breathing. Inhale and exhale and hold breath for a few seconds, as much as you can. While inhaling, your abdomen has to be contracted and expanded during exhalation. This causes air to be filled and released fully, in and out of your lungs. Repeating this process will evidently allow you to experience the gradual removal of stress and advent of peace. Though not mandatory, you can create a great ambience, prior to practicing breathing exercise regimen by getting incense and candles lit, using aromatic essential oils and finding a particular spot in your home or outside. You can also opt for a well lit space that is airy for doing the exercise, everyday. A comfortable spot can refresh your mind and help you practice breathing regimens, unhampered.
