Bright Colors and How to Mix and Match Them

Fashionable colors continue to be bolder and brighter than ever before, but that doesn't mean that anything goes. While this fashion fad changes slightly every year, the colors people pick are not randomly chosen. Although colors may seem to clash, there is a method behind the color madness. When you want to find two colors that match during bright fashion days, keep this in mind and you will not likely go wrong: any two colors need to be practically the same or extremely different for this to work. It would not be advisable to wear a bright yellow and a slightly different yellow. The advantage vivid colors give you is the contrast -- blue and yellow are one of the most eye-catching combinations available, which is why it is so popular in advertising. Trying to match similar colors just does not work because it looks like you did not mean to do it. Others can immediately notice the mismatch of colors that are not quite the same and it just seems a little off. Certain color combinations are only an option during certain times of the year. Red and green are purely Christmas season – you might get strange looks wearing that in July. Same goes for black and gold colors and Halloween. However, red and gold can be worn all throughout the fall and winter, as can red and black (though that does not mean orange and gold would go well together). A simple way to add a little contrasting color to your ensemble is to pick up a colorful piece of jewelry. Bracelets can add a lot of color for a small cost, especially with stacking bracelets that go up your arm in a rainbow of colors. Leather bracelets for women are especially perfect for this, as they come in a variety of widths and can have crystals set in to add color, even though the leather is usually in neutral colors. Rings are also a great option for adding color. Pick up a chunky knuckle ring with a large gem or crystal to add that pizzazz and color. Many knuckle rings have stretchable backs, which allow you to easily fit it on your finger and to move your hand while wearing it. A bright necklace will also add a prominent color splash to your look. To complete the look, matching earrings to whatever other jewelry you have on will bring a sense of coordination with it.
