The city of Bhubaneswar is located in the eastern region of the country and has a significant and age old history. The name of the city Bhubaneswar literally means the lord of the Universe. The city is the largest city of the Indian state of Orissa and is also the capital of the state. The city has many known and ancient temples which are significant as well as have value from the religious point of view, that’s why the city is also referred as the ‘city of temples’. The city was founded by the Mahamegha –bahana Chedi Dynasty. Initially the city had been given different names such as, Toshali, Kalinga Nagari, Nagar Kalinga, Ekamra Kanan, Ekamra Kshetra, and the Mandira Malini Nagari. The city also hub to the metals and metal processing industries. The city is a planned city and has good residential locations and not just this, the city also has good number of small, medium and large scale industries.

The state government has established different IT parks for the development of the IT sector. So the city has two basic and well know
IT sectors namely, Infocity-1, the Infocity-2, STPI Bhubaneswar, and JSS STP.Reputed software companies are working here since ages, namely Infosys, Satyam Computer Service Ltd., TCS, Mindfire Solutions, Wipro, IBM, Genpact, Firstsource, and Mind tree. The city is well connected and has well managed rail, road and air transport services.

Till date the city has established and founded a number of educational institutions which are not only world class but are also reputed and known all round the country.
