Chances are, out of the numerous skin treatments that exist, BOTOX ® Cosmetic is most often the one that people think of when considering a cosmetic solution. And while BOTOX ® Cosmetic injections have been popular for some time now, they do come with their fair amount of unfair press. Perhaps, because BOTOX ® is the “celebrity” of the skin treatment world – and with that comes the unfortunate bad press and negative attention. As with any socialite, rumours and misconceptions are bound to make their rounds. So it’s important to research factual information about BOTOX ® so that you can get all of the facts straight before deciding to go ahead with this treatment. Dr. Simon Ourian, a Califo ia physician, knows this all too well. A couple of years ago, he created an article on PRlog.org in an effort to dispel some of those myths about BOTOX ®. An expert on the subject who has performed numerous BOTOX ® procedures, Dr. Ourian knows all too well that BOTOX® occasionally suffers from an unfairly-given poor reputation. The following below are a few myths and misconceptions that he dispels in his writing. Myth #1: BOTOX ® injections distort your facial expressions. In last week’s article, we discussed the importance of having BOTOX ® injections administered ONLY by a qualified physician. Those who fail to go to a licensed, qualified, and experienced Botox doctor may experience overdoses or misdirected injections as we learned from the CBC report a week ago. In such cases, facial distortion or other untoward side-effects may occur. But BOTOX ® authorities who have a lot of experience and training know that appropriate injections lead to the smoothing out of wrinkles and eventually younger looking skin overall. But even with injections that are done properly, and accurately, there is still some conce among those who have listened to the myths. Myth #2: BOTOX ® injections are somehow toxic to the body and it's organs. As Dr. Ourian explains on PRlog.org, while BOTOX ® is a purified protein derived from the botulinum toxin, a serious form of food poisoning, the pinpoint administration of the protein into a specific muscle renders any toxins incapable or at least highly unlikely of spreading negative effects to outside areas. Again, this is where consulting a trained professional is imperative. The dose of BOTOX ® is also very important. Too high of a dose can allow BOTOX ® to travel to distant sites of the body and cause side-effects. This would not happen with proper administration of the produce. BOTOX ® is actually a natural product, it is derived from a bacteria that is normally found in the environment around us. All the scientists do is isolate that one specific protein and put it in a bottle for us to use. Isn't that a natural product? Myth #3: Patients often develop an “addiction” to BOTOX® injection treatments. Dr. Ourian explains that there are no physiological addictions that come as a result of receiving BOTOX® treatments. Of course, most patients are exceedingly happy with the results of their treatments and often wish to maintain the rejuvenating effects of BOTOX® by receiving further injections over the course of time. It’s all a personal decision but there is absolutely no "addition" to this medicine. Addition is defined as having withdrawal symptoms after discontinuing the medicine and this never happens with BOTOX ® treamtnets. Myth #4: BOTOX® injections cause a stressful experience for the muscles. In fact, the complete opposite is true. BOTOX ® actually works to force muscles to relax. Many people develop lines and wrinkles due to stress, as they don’t allow their muscles a break. A BOTOX ® injection reverses the effects of stress by relieving muscles of that very stress. Forcing your muscles to relax can be very helpful in also eliminating tension headaches that are commonly caused by over-worked muscles in the forehead area. You can watch a real Botox injection by Dr. Crippen here on YouTube.
