This cabbage soup diet recipe is one of three delicious cabbage soup recipes I have created on my website. I want to share this one with you to help spruce up the cabbage soup diet, or just to enjoy at any time.nnHaving a variety of recipes to choose from can really help you get through the diet. Although this diet should go no longer than a week, you still can get pretty tired of cabbage soup if it always tastes the same.nnI’m sure you will enjoy this wonderful Italian style cabbage soup. (My others are the Basic and the Mexican style.

nnPlease remember that this is not a long-term diet and should only be done for seven days. This will get you off to a good start, but then you must get on a good long-term diet. nnnItalian Cabbage Soup Diet Recipenn4 large green onions, choppednn2 green peppers, chopped into small squaresn n2 28 ounce cans Italian style chopped tomatoesnn½ teaspoon Italian seasoningnn½ teaspoon anise seed (optional, but good)n n3 Carrots, slicedn n1 bunch of celery, choppedn n1 half head of cabbage, choppedn n1 1¼-ounce envelop onion soup or whatever you want to substituten n2 chicken bouillon cubes dissolved in 3 cups hot waternn1 48oz can V8 juice or equivalentnnSalt and pepper to taste

nn1 white or yellow onion, slicednn4 cloves chopped garlic (may use 4 teaspoons jarred)nnnDirections:n

  1. Combine all but the onions and garlic in a large stockpot.nn
  2. Sauté the onions in a nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat until almost translucent.nn
  3. Add the garlic and sauté for 30 seconds more, then add these ingredients to the stock pot.nn
  4. Simmer for 1 hour. Season to taste. n
nRefrigerate leftovers.nnEnjoy!
