Caesarean Birth â The Risks Along With Benefits
If there are no major issues with your pregnancy then a normal vaginal birth will suffice. This form of birth is a lot safer than a C section delivery. This could be true for your current pregnancy along with your future pregnancies as well as complications is on the higher side with a C section delivery. For future fertility vaginal delivery is also a positive sign.
Let us now get to basic facts on why it is called a Caesarean delivery? Any surgery does carry an element of risk. If it involves surgery of y our tummy or pelvic region then re admission and complications into a hospital are going to happen again. But serious degree of complications is on the rarer side when it is a first C section delivery all the more so if it is planned and you are healthy.
In certain cases a C section delivery may be called for to save the life of a mother or a baby. In that case without any question it does appear to be the safest option. If the labor has been induced and still it is not progressing then C section is a called option. If you need interventions in your delivery then assisted birth like ventouse or forceps becomes a common affair. The doctor along with the patient would then have to review the benefits along with risks in opting for a C section delivery.
There could be times when the decision is not clear cut. Then the onus does fall on the patient and the medical team to arrive at a decision. The best course of action would be to decide what works best for a patient. This could even happen before you give birth or during the course of giving birth. This pretty much answers the question on why do they call it a Caesarean section delivery.
There are some risks of have a C section delivery which are as follows
Painr
After an operation you are going to need pain relief. The phase of recovery is going to be a lot longer than a normal vaginal birth. For the first few days you might witness a pain in the wound and for the first week discomfort in the tummy will be there till the point your body heals.
When you are having a C section delivery it would have an impact on your day to day activities for a few days. Close to 1 out of 10 women have some form of abdominal discomfort during the C section surgery.
Bleedingr
In comparison to a vaginal birth you are going to lose more amount of blood with a C section surgery.
