Cahn's Readers of The Harbinger and the Shemitah Mystery, Hold On—It May Still Be Right!

Summary: Jonathan Cahn is a well-liked author and speaker, but after recent disappointed expectations, many may be wondering, What happened? This article harmonizes the dual imagery for the Hebrew year and the time of judgment for 2015-2016 as the right year, with judgment still impending in the spring.
It's an interesting fact that the Jewish calendar has a civil year and a religious year offset by six months.
Observant Jews call the first day of the 7th month Rosh Hashanah which means “head of the year” and they celebrate it as the Jewish New Year, calling the day Yom Teruah, Day of Shouting.
In Exodus 12:2, God told Moses that the month of Passover in the spring was “the beginning of months and the first month of the year.” This was considered the beginning of the religious year. The context of this was Passover, a time when God said, “I will execute judgment.” Exod 12:12.
Many years and many shemitah cycles come and go, but when we come to the time that the types in the Old Testament Exodus may find an antitypical fulfillment, we expect, unlike other years, that significant events may occur on those “appointed times,” mowed in the Hebrew Bible.
Like the chicken or the egg, which comes first? Expecting judgment in the fall reminds us of the Great Disappointment (Google) in 1844 when followers of a Baptist, William Miller, expected to be raptured as judgment fell in the fall on the world. Getting the sequence wrong again caused a disappointment this fall.
Clues from the life of Christ support a fall foreshadowing of a spring judgment. In Israel's day, the High Priest did not sleep on the night before the Day of Atonement. He reviewed his tasks. So it was that Christ ascended the Mount of Transfiguration to pray when Moses and Elijah came to show Him what was coming and to encourage Him for Passover in the spring, Matthew 17:3.
We might do well to do as Christ did Wednesday evening, September 23, the eve of the Day of Atonement when the pope will present his agenda to the US Congress. Who knows but what Moses and Elijah may show up to someone or many? Let us fast and pray to see God's blessing in these serious times.
Revelation also supports an earthquake as before the first trumpet in Rev 8:5-7. In the first trumpet (Feast of Trumpets in the fall, Lev 23:24) is when “all green grass was burnt up” but if this were literal, we would all be finished and not need more trumpets.. Grass decodes to riches in James 1:9-11, for “as the flower of the grass, so shall the rich man fade,” King James Bible. It will be the economy, but not yet.
Long story short, we should “watch” for events to develop that would parallel the judgment that fell on Egypt at Passover in the spring, and keep in mind Christ's warning that His disciples did not know the day or hour. The Greek word, eido, means to understand. He was saying they didn't understand, and each time He said it, He gave an example, “as the days of Noah” when the Flood came with Passover timing, but in the second spring month.
Another time when five women missed the wedding, He again said, “Watch.” The Greek word, gregoreo, means to be awake and the only night being awake was required was the eve of Passover, Exod 12:10; Matt 26:38-41. He further explained the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country. Matt 25:13,14. Like “the days of Noah,” this fit a provision in their law for Passover a month later so there was time to return for its observance. Num 9:10,11.
God says He won't do anything without revealing it through the prophets. We should be better students. As Lincoln said, “I will study and get ready, and some day my chance will come.” If we are ready, God will give us an opportunity.
