In the field of psychology, there are dozens of theories about the formation of personality. In history, there are as many accounts of World War I as there are historians with expertisein the subject. In the world of weight loss, much the same way, various schools of thought try to define the physiological mechanisms behind weight maintenance.

Traditional theories hold that the relationship between metabolism and food intake is the key factor in gaining and losing weight. Though most diets are based on this premise, this view is now being challenged. The challenge comes from holistic experts who believe that poisons, or toxins in our food are the bad guys that add on the pounds. It's not the calories, but the preservatives, MSG, and artificial flavourings that traumatize the body.

Toxicity is of much greater conce
in the twentieth century than ever before. There are many new and stronger chemicals, air and water pollution, radiation and nuclear power. We ingest new chemicals, use more drugs of all kinds, eat more sugar and refined foods, and daily abuse ourselves with various stimulants and sedatives. Cleansing diet helps your body to eventually cleanse itself of the harmful effects of these toxic foods.

According to this holistic theory, the human body is a network of systems that gets rid of various waste and poisons. Access and exposure to additives and other chemicals lead to an overload of toxins, which are stored in the liver, the main fat-bu
ing organ.

Weight loss, then, is all about cleansing diet, or purging of waste that accumulates in the body. Think of your body as a sink. It processes all kinds of waste. With years of use, and depending on how careful you are with what you put in it, your body retains some of this waste. It no longer functions at maximum capacity. It becomes a clogged sink. What do you do as soon as you notice your sink is clogged? You clean it. According to experts, the same should be done with the body. Cleansing diet enhance normal process of waste elimination, which generally occurs with the help of major organs, such as liver, colon, skin and the lymphatic system. Cleansing diet helps you get clean by avoiding harmful pesticides, and staying clear of highly processed and artificial food.

Internal body detox or cleansing diet helps body regain the ability to function at its best, and burn fat at a regular rate instead of storing it. Weight loss, therefore, is a by-product of the detoxification process.

Do you subscribe to convention or new-age thought? Like most dieters, you've probably tried it all, while believing in nothing. Yes, the weight loss world is a double-edged sword; with its informative nature, it reassures and intimidates all at once.

Whether you think toxins or calories are to blame for weight gain, cleansing diet can help you achieve maximum success in your quest towards weight loss by putting the trust squarely in the hands of the only person who truly knows what works -- you.
