Can Homeschool Mathematics Be given Over One Credit Each Year?
Homeschool parents normally look for mastery of subjects prior to moving ahead. This is shown whenever parents require "more than regular work" in challenging subjects like math and science. Math is just one of those subjects like organized sports that normally requires a great deal of hours to finish every year, yet should still be one high school credit. Now is a great time to say that you do not need to count hours AND count textbooks. You can calculate credit value by counting hours OR by finishing a textbook, but do not determine both ways. When you use a textbook, determine credits that way, and do not take the time counting hours.
No matter what you settle on, keep in mind the parent always knows best. You may determine that your son deserves something greater than simply one credit on his transcript. If that's the case, you might think about giving him honors credit to take into account all the extra work he did for his class. You are in charge of your child's education.
