Mycoplasma is a type of prokaryotic microorganism that mostly resides in the vagina and cervix of women and can be transmitted to the male genitourinary system through sexual contact. Unclean sexual behavior and multiple sexual partners are important factors contributing to Mycoplasma infection. However, sexual contact is not the only way to contract Mycoplasma. In other words, Mycoplasma infection does not necessarily result from infidelity; it can also be acquired through daily life contact. If certain hygiene details are not taken into account in daily life, such as sharing towels with others or using dirty bed sheets in hotels, there is a possibility of Mycoplasma infection. Additionally, swimming pools, public bathrooms, and even overuse of antibiotics can disrupt the body's normal flora, leading to the manifestation of symptoms in pre-existing Mycoplasma carriers. Research shows that the carriage rate of Mycoplasma in healthy populations can range from 4% to 22%, with a positive rate of 34% in healthy males. The pathogens responsible for Mycoplasma infection include Mycoplasma hominis (MH), Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU), and Mycoplasma genitalium (MG). Among them, UU has the highest infection rate and can cause urinary and reproductive tract inflammations. In severe cases, it can lead to infections in pregnant women, infertility, and intrauterine growth restriction. Therefore, timely treatment is necessary upon discovering Mycoplasma infection. Currently, antibiotics are commonly used to treat Mycoplasma infection, but most antibiotics are not effective against cell wall-free Mycoplasma and can easily lead to drug resistance, resulting in recurrent infections. For women, using herbal medicine like Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill. In addition to that, patients also need to learn how to prevent Mycoplasma infection. Firstly, proactive treatment. Patients with Mycoplasma infection, especially sexual partners, should actively seek treatment for Mycoplasma. Currently, antibiotics have a good therapeutic effect on Mycoplasma infection. Secondly, comprehensive disinfection. Mycoplasma is not actually frightening; it has poor resistance to heat. It can be inactivated at a temperature of 55 degrees Celsius in 15 minutes, and regular disinfectants can effectively deactivate it. Thirdly, enhance resistance and avoid the overuse of antibiotics. Excessive use of antibiotics often leads to an imbalance in the body's flora, making it more susceptible to Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, and other pathogenic infections. Fourthly, strengthen nutrition. Enhancing nutrition is a prerequisite for strengthening resistance. Only with sufficient nutrition can the body be healthy. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, supplement protein, and maintain a balanced diet. Lastly, a reminder to everyone: Mycoplasma infection does not equal "sexually transmitted disease," so when a partner is infected with Mycoplasma, one should not immediately suspect a history of unclean sexual behavior or improper contact.
