Self-Realization means to realize, really who am I? Whatever we identify ourselves with today is not the real self; it is actually a worldly self. Our name, our mind, body, speech, intellect, ego, our anger, pride, deceit, greed, etc. are all a part of the worldly self only. So, how do we distinguish between the real Self and the worldly self?rnWe can distinguish with the help of right knowledge of what is temporary and what is permanent. This is the main distinguishing factor between a worldly object and the real thing. Our name, our mind, body, speech, intellect, ego etc. are all temporary. And the Soul is permanent. Hence, the Soul is the real Self. However, temporary is what we can see and the permanent we cannot see. So, how do we realize something that we do not know and we cannot even see? Through Ashtang-Yog?rnYam, Niyam, Aasan, Pranayam, Pratyahaar, Dharna and Samadhi are the eight parts of Ashtang yog. As we follow these spiritual practices, purification takes place inside us. When our internal gets totally purified, we are able to realize the Self. Thus, Ashtang yog is a step-by-step process towards Self-Realization. It takes quite a long time though! Through Awakening of the Kundalini then?rnAwakening of the Kundalini does not mean awakening of the Soul, right? Hence, Self-Realization is farther from there too. This means even when one activates kundalini or follows Ashtang-yog, one does not get Self-Realization right away. So, only by Conquering the Mind?rnNow, let’s talk about that part of your question which is about getting Self-Realization or liberation by conquering the mind. This by no means is an easy task either. Conquering the mind means not getting engrossed in the thoughts that arise in mind. Try doing this for thirty seconds only. It is extremely difficult for anyone who has not attained Self-Realization. Even after years of practice, one may get not too far. Yes, conquering the mind becomes fairly easy after Self-Realization, as compared to doing it in order to attain Self-Realization. This is a tough ordeal indeed! So then, is there no easy way to Self-Realization?rnThere certainly is! rnAnd that is the Akram Vignan way!! rnIn Akram Vignan, we attain Self-Realization with the direct grace of the Living Gnani!!! Gnani means the Enlightened One. A lit candle can easily light other candles, isn’t it?! rnSimilarly, the Enlightened One can enlighten our Soul. In Akram Vignan, there is a two-hour process of Gnan-Vidhi, wherein we do not have to do much; all that is required from our end is total surrender. Total surrender is possible when we have inside us a pure inner intent of, ‘I do not know anything’ supported by absolute humility. This is it! The rest Gnani will manage. Isn’t that quite easy? Not only easy, but it is scientific too!rnWe all are really a Pure Soul. Inspite of all kinds of impurities that may be lying within us, the Soul can be realized, says Gnani, the Enlightened One. How?? rnFor example, we have a gold ring. This ring obviously contains a mixture of copper and gold. Now, if we want to extract pure gold from it, whom would we go to? A goldsmith, as he is able to separate the gold from the copper. The gold and copper in a golden ring are in the form of a mixture rather than a compound. The goldsmith, therefore, can easily separate the mixture. Similarly, the real Self and the worldly self are in a mixture form and not in a compound form, which is why it is possible to extract the Self. If they were in a compound form, it would not be possible to separate the two. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan explains, “A goldsmith can separate the gold and the copper because he knows the qualities of both of these elements. Similarly, a Gnani Purush knows the qualities of the Self and the non-Self. Hence he can separate the two.” We are like a gold ring today; a mixture of the real Self (pure Soul) and the worldly self (known by your name today). If we want to attain Self-Realization, which means we want to extract Pure Soul from amidst the mixture of Soul along with other impurities of our anger, pride, deceit, greed, our mind, body, speech, intellect, ego, etc., we need to go to Gnani!!! The Living Gnani Purush separates the real Self and the worldly Self; and makes us realize the Self, in the easiest way!!! For more details, you can visit https://www.dadabhagwan.org/
