Many commercial organisations are fully indebted to the progress withi
TOGAF and it is being adopted by many of the larger business groups. Also, Togaf Certification is being looked upon as a very desirable qualification to possess to help further any management career.

But what exactly is TOGAF?

TOGAF stands for The Open Group Architecture Framework and for the most part it allows for the optimised design, implementation and monitoring of the best structure for an organisation or commercial entity.

The important foundation of TOGAF is the ADM or Architecture Development Method. This is a proven process for creating an IT enterprise structure that will meet the developing needs of a business.

The Open Group Architecture Framework is a guideline framework. It comprises a specific method and a set of vital supporting tools that can be used for developing an enterprise architecture system. TOGAF is open to be used, without limitation, by any commercial or other organization wishing to construct enterprise architecture.

It was developed by the membership of The Open Group, working within the Architecture Forum.

The initial creation of TOGAF Version 1 in 1995 was founded on the Technical Architecture Framework for Information Management (TAFIM), created by the US Department of Defence. This government department permitted The Open Group explicit permission and assistance to devise TOGAF by improving upon the TAFIM. The latter came into life because of many years of investment and development by the United States government.

Using this long-standing and sound foundation as their beginning, the membership of The Open Group Architecture Forum has shaped successive versions of TOGAF each year. These yearly editions are then made available on the official Open Group web site for viewing by interested parties.

Many business consultants now obtai
TOGAF Certification to improve their professional careers. It is now looked upon as an indispensable qualification to possess and is likely to become increasingly sought after.

The TOGAF certification program is directed towards architecture service providers and tools vendors. It enables them to prove, by demonstration, that their services or products in general support the enterprise architect using ADM.

It is critical to note that ADM complements and can also be used in conjunction with all major frameworks. The TOGAF certification program has been utilised by individuals, trainers, professional service providers and for technical, tool support.

To its credit, The Open Group’s architecture framework, TOGAF, and TOGAF ADM have been continually enhanced and developed since the mid nineties by The Open Group Architecture Forum.

This expert forum consists of senior representatives of most of the leading, global IT vendors and customers from trade and non commercial organisations.
It must be said that there is some discussion as to the importance of Togaf Certification. Some managers say that it leaves many questions unanswered and many view it as of little value unless coupled with some past experience with EA.

Nevertheless, major organisations and corporations stress the importance of the EA function and welcome these individuals with Togaf Certification and see them as a valuable asset.
