Sound healing using tuning forks is a simple but powerful modality whose popularity is growing. Sound works on emotional, physical, spiritual and mental status of a person. It is a tool for transformations and wellness. Hearing is through the ears but this affects the body even if the tuning forks are not touching the body. The earlier believe is that human bodies are a solid matter. Recent discoveries in the quantum physics show that everything that we assumed to be solid matter moves and vibrates constantly. The factor that makes it possible to see the solid matter is because the vibration is sluggish enough to allow anyone who is observing to touch and see. Accepting this basic principle that the body vibrates makes it possible to embrace the concepts in sound science. This is where the explanation about how sound turns to healing modality. FREQUENCY Sound travels through air in form of a wave. The measure for sound waves is cycles/second or in Hertz which is abbreviated as Hz. The measure for sound itself is known as Frequency. The tuning forks that are used for healing are labeled with a specific frequency that the fork has. If a fork is labeled as 500 Hz, it will vibrate at the rate of 500 cycles / second. A deep sound has slower waves and a lower frequency than sounds that are higher. The sounds including those that we do not hare have some impact on the body. The foundation of sound healing using tuning forks involves restoration of the proper resonant frequency. This is done to the body part that is vibrating in a way that does not harmonize with other body parts. It is also useful if a body part is not in harmony with the natural frequency. The body is always in the vibration state that is made up of several and different frequencies. The use of tuning forks in healing attempts to restore the proper resonant frequency of a physical, spiritual, mental or emotional part that is not in harmony with other parts. This helps in restoring vibration that is healthy. Sound is a form of energy that enters the ears and brain and has an ability to affect the nervous system. It can change the arrangement of molecules in the cellular structure. Sound healing is done using different tuning forks types. Some of them have weights that are applied to physical body. The weights are placed at the end of the fork so as to make it easier to apply on the body and the vibration to be felt. A tuning fork can be used on its own or be combined with other forks that make up a system. There are various techniques that are used during sound healing but all have basic principles. The base of a fork is held with a grasp that is firm. The ends that have that are struck on a surface that is hard. The surface is at times referred to as an activator.
