Cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases in the world today. It is so mainly because there are no known cures for it. Be saying that, it means there are no 100% sure shot cures for cancer. Although there are different types of treatment available and sometimes these treatments succeed in curing cancer, it is not sure that these would work every time. Also it is not known for sure why and when this disease would strike. There are many causes that have been pinpointed out. Dietary factors, tobacco consumption, smoking, alcohol, pollution are all active participants to the cause of cancer in the human body. However, it cannot be said that these are the only reasons why cancer is caused and to how much extent these cause cancer. Sometimes a person can be a smoker all his life and not contract cancer. Other times, a person might have never touched a smoke in his life and still be a victim of the disease. There are therefore no known sure causes although we can take prevention from every cause that leads to cancer. It is very true with this disease that prevention is much better that the cure. This is because the treatment of cancer can often be traumatic and have many side effects. The good news is there are many new types of treatments that coming out that help to successfully battle cancer. These treatments work towards defeating cancer. There is multiple numbers of options available today for the person who is looking to fight cancer. The first way is chemotherapy. This is done by the use of chemicals. In this method, chemicals are injected into the blood stream so that they poison the dangerous growing cancer cells in the body. However this method has many side effects on the body. However today, there are better drugs being developed that target only the cancerous cells and destroy only those cells that are harmful to the body. Even as such these drugs should only be taken after the recommendation of a highly trained specialist. The next option is surgery. This is done when the cancer is operable. In this the cancerous tissues are removed from the body though surgery. This is normally done with a high success rate but the problem comes when such a cancerous tissue is near another delicate tissue in our body and is inoperable or is the cancer has spread a lot in terms of growth. In such cases we go for radiation therapy or chemotherapy. Radiation therapy is done by acting of high energy radiation to kill the DNA that is causing cancer. The DNA that resides in the cancer cells are destroyed by radiation so that they cannot multiply or affect the body. This way the cancer is removed from the body. There are many other methods that are being developed to fight cancer. As technology progresses, there are new cures coming out which would help to dissolve this disease into nothing. Till then, prevention of the disease is always better than the cure.
