Could dogs have cancer? Yes, actually fifty percent of dog mortalities are accounted for canine cancer. Like the pet owners, the uncontrolled growth of cells on or within the body of dogs will result to cancer. Being a dog lover, you will surely want to know canine cancer causes in order to protect your favorite pet from all the pain and worst, death!
Canine cancer occurs for adult dogs that are ten years old and above. During their early lives, the normal cell cycle includes growth, division and phase out wherein cell division is very rapid until maturity. Once they have reached the maximum level of growth, the cells will now function for reproduction purposes or replacement of damaged cells to repair injuries and replace the ones.
In such process, cancer cells naturally grow and divide along with the normal cells; however, instead of dying they continue to grow and form a new batch of abnormal cells. Most people would be familiar with the word mutation but what triggers this? What are then the most common canine cancer causes? Carcinogens are the causative factor that triggers cancer cells and make their environment conducive for development.
1. A causative factor that pet owners could not prevent is heredity, yet improper breeding could be avoided.
2. Another factor that we cannot avoid is viral infection but we can prevent or minimize it by proper vaccines. But don’t do it yourself, go to the nearest veterinary clinic for medical advices and excellent filing of records because an overdose on vaccine could also trigger mutation.
3. One of the most common carcinogenic factors includes the chemical additives or preservatives that are found in food. As pet owners, you should check your dog’s diet as you check yours.
4. As much as possible, avoid exposure to radiation, insecticides, herbicides and smoking as these are pro-cancer cells.
There are many types of cancer such as abdominal cancer, mammary cancer, testicular cancer, lymphoma and osteosarcoma; therefore there are many possible canine cancer causes for these. So the chance of your dog to acquire it would then be very high. But don’t be alarmed, what you have to do is feed your dog with a healthy diet and add supplements such as ES Clear. Also, spraying or neutering your pet dog will lessen the risk for developing certain types of cancer. It is all worth it rather than seeing your pet in a worst and dying condition.
