Cargo baskets do a wonderful job when it comes to transporting oversized products from land to sea. Made of tough steel, they are containers used by oil drilling firms. The firms require heavy engineering machinery to drill the sea bed. The machinery is transported from the company’s office on the land to the drilling site in high sea. This machinery is transported into parts and it is the metal containers that take the parts one by one to the drilling site where the parts are joined to make a fully functional drilling machine. One can’t deny that containers play a crucial role in deep sea oil drilling.

Cargo baskets are a kind of offshore containers used by oil drilling firms. These baskets have a specialty and that is they can be opened from side. In other words, these containers have side opening walls that makes taking out the machine part quite easy. These baskets come in different length, breadth and width and height to suit individual needs. One can find 18 meter long container with side opening walls. Also there are 2 meter long baskets for smaller tools. There are manufacturers that can customize a container for carrying special goods.

Quality cargo baskets follow DNV2.7-1/EN12079 standard and one should make sure that the basket one is going to buy follows this standard. There are many manufacturers with each claiming to follow this standard in making containers for oil rigs but in reality a majority of the manufacturers use substandard material in making metal baskets. They save money and offer discount to the oil drilling firms that show interest in their products. Buying substandard product is risking your machine parts that you would transport in inferior quality baskets. It is worth paying some extra dollars for the metal basket that can assure safety of your expensive machine parts.

Cargo baskets come with drainage points to release the excess moisture from the basket. The purpose of these containers is to transport the goods safely. Sea water contains salt and other minerals that can be harmful for metal products. But there should be no worries, if you are using quality metal container for your machinery. The container won’t allow the sea water to touch the goods and in this way it would assure safety of your products. Use quality baskets only and try to get customized containers that suit to your needs. There are manufacturers that make customized metal baskets.
