Finding a duck feather cushion is easy. It’s really something that’s not rare because a lot of people opt to have this in their homes and use this in various parts of the house. Some use it for decorative purposes while some use it for additional support for chronic pains or injuries. Duck feather, although common, is a bit more on the expensive side when it comes to pillows and cushions. This is why it is important for you to know the care that needs to be done in order for you to be able to preserve the good quality of the duck feather cushion and also in order for you to have it last for a long time.
First of all, you need to note that unlike other cushion fills, duck feather cushions are rarely washable. This is why it needs to be protected more. It is best for you to have a protective case that has a zipper for your duck feather cushions and then add the cushion case. This way the pillow gets protected from dirt and other elements. As for washing, it is rare for duck feather cushions to be washable but check the label and follow this religiously. If it indicates for dry cleaning only, do not even attempt to wash it. If it says it can be washed, follow the instructions to the dot. In connection to the protective cover under a cushion case, this is highly recommended because frequent washing of the duck feather cushion would lead to its early demise. Often, it is best to have duck feather cushions washed only every 6 months. Since it requires a long period of time, you need to protect it.
Second, duck feathers are prone to molds, so you have to make absolute sure that your duck feather cushions do not have moisture in them. These should always be completely dry. Not only are molds destructive, it is also dangerous to one’s health as it can trigger allergic reactions and other diseases (this is why I personally recommend to leave the washing to professional cleaners).
Thirdly, as for the protective cover and the cushion case, replace the cushion case every week or as needed. As for the protective cover, replace this every month. In doing so, you can prevent dirt and other elements from seeping into your duck feather cushions.
Lastly, fluff your duck feather cushions every day. Fluffing is not only for its appearance maintenance. It also allows air to come into the duck feather cushions which of course, appearance wise would retain its plump shape but it also gives room to dry out any possibly moisture it may have absorbed.
