Cartoons And Food-Their Effects On Children

Cartoons are the best shows which children watch on an everyday basis. For them studying really doesn’t hold the ground because they are immature. Cartoons have evolved from just fun to action and chilling plots. The violence and addiction they have created is far more damaging to their minds than disputes and other fights within the four walls of a home. Children are easy targets for marketers and they take full advantage of their interest and urge for seeing the idiot box on a daily basis. Similarly, foods aimed for children are made in a way to attract them at any cost. Chips, burgers, doughnuts and other junk food eatables are a part and parcel from big multinational food manufacturing companies.

Cartoons and food go hand in hand- this is statement may be weird yet it is true. Often it has been seen that children binge on foods which have their favorite cartoon characters made on it. The one liners which make their minds tick towards it are eye- catching and makes them a complete fanatic for them. The effects of such advertisements and cartoon characters on children are truly damaging their growth right from the tender age when they have not experienced the world outside. Batman, Sonic Speed Racer, Spiderman, Superman, Star Wars and many other genres of cartoons are violating homes and creating an unfriendly atmosphere which are slowly poisoning children’s minds.

The violence and addiction among children increase as they grow into adolescents who pass through a tough and crucial phase of their life when studies need to be the primary objective; their attention gets diverted towards all non-important things. The enthusiastic viewing becomes an addiction like drugs and until they have had their fill of cartoon images and its action packed environment they always budge away from their studies. It is important for all of them to know the essence of time and the requirement of education for a better future. Entertainment via cartoons isn’t bad but their effect on their minds is much more.

Children try to enact all such actions by themselves and end up breaking their bones or getting severe injuries. They never try to understand the warnings of their parents, elder siblings or grandparents. This affects the mental and psychological growth to a large extent which affects their future adversely. In today’s TRP driven environment every channel runs round the clock and there are endless cartoons popping up at every second. Children need to be helped in realizing where their real enjoyment is and will be in the times to come. Youngsters develop on the basis of their nature and nurture which are vital for their own survival.

Violence in animations becomes quite unhealthy for them as they forget their identity. Parents need to exercise control on their children right from the beginning in order to make them move in the right direction. None of the parents will disagree to their children’s demand of having junk food once in a while but for the rest of the days they also need to eat nutritious food rather than fattening ones. A strict and adhering schedule of their hours should be made in order to keep them obedient and to have proper understanding among both parents and children. They should encourage outdoor games rather than television watching. By playing outdoor games they not only will refresh their minds but also become physically fit and sound.
